A vacation for all and something for all to do! You name it this house has it all - LOCATION -For gazing at sunrises and sunsets (2 porches and water on two sides!) -For kayaking and canoeing at your back door (canoe and life vests included) -For renowned shopping at L.L. Bean and elsewhere, you are an easy drive -For bike riding (bikes and helmets included) at your front door on the dead end road/peninsula -For watching the fantastic birds (eagles nest on island in front). -Restaurants in Freeport, Brunswick, and Portland for your dining pleasure. -Parks to stroll, trails to hike or ride and beaches to walk. And then there are the three bedrooms and two baths (one each on the first floor) which sleeps 6. Not to mention the loft which can accommodate someone too. The kitchen is fully equipped with china, utensils, appliances and a dishwasher.

Beautiful parks, a bird sanctuary, beaches, golf courses and a visiting farm to delight your children are all close by. Great also for a winter get-away! Convenient to ski slopes and quaint holiday shopping.

Restful and Relaxing

We rented this cottage for two, relaxing weeks. The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular, the location quiet yet very convenient to downtown Freeport. Several of the neighbors stopped while walking by to welcome us and say hello.

We very much enjoyed ourselves!

Beautiful restful location

I spent a week at Shepard's Cottage in May of 2006 and then went back the next year in September of 2007. The place is in a beautiful location and the cottage is beautifully maintained. There is so much to do in the area but leave time to just sit on the deck and relax or go for long walks in the neighborhood. The sunsets at the end of the peninsula are unbelievable and I took so many pictures. The only thing I found wanting was the lack of a
good internet connection. Even in the wilderness you need to be able to stay connected. It would be the perfect vacation spot if they had wireless broadband internet so that I could use my laptop to connect. Also, I couldn't give a fair review if I didn't comment on how nice Darlene, the rental agent, is and what good communication we received. Thanks for a memorable visit to Maine.

Sooooo wonderful!

We had the BEST long weekend here!

You really can't convey how great this spot is in writing - there is ocean and pebbly beaches on two sides of this cottage. The cottage itself is plenty comfortable and very VERY well kept up. We came for a weekend and wished we could stay all summer, and are planning to find some time to return!

Lots to do with the canoe and bikes and firepit for roasting marshmallows, hammock, grill... everything you need is there.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Pet-friendly, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Quiet, peaceful and relaxing in a beautiful setting. We truly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It's off the beaten trail (just over 5 miles from LL Bean in Freeport), but an easy drive to many local attractions. June was a bit concerned the first time the tide went out and the tidal flats appeared, but when she came to realize the diverse wildlife that is attracted to this environment, she came to appreciate the rhythm of life it sustains. Although I must admit she truly loved the returning tide and the beautiful views of the islands just off shore. If you enyoy just setting back with a good book or a peaceful nap in the yard with the ocean scent on the breeze we would highly recommend the Shepard Cottage!

My Family and I stayed at the Shepard's Seaside Cottage this June. Our time there was wonderful. The cottage is beautifully maintained. The view is breathtaking. It is the perfect place to sit and relax and enjoy the view.
The only request would be to have more comfortable deck chairs otherwise everything else was perfect.
