An upscale log cabin on a secluded pond near Acadia National Park! This nicely furnished year-round log home is located on ten wooded acres, with a running brook, and a pond. A family of beavers can sometimes be spotted in the pond at sundown. The large wrap-around deck is wonderful for sunning, reading, outdoor dining or stargazing. First floor: kitchen, dining area, 'great' room with sliding doors to the deck, bedroom and a full bath. Second floor: two bedrooms and a bath.

The cabin is centrally located on MDI between Hulls Cove and Town Hill and is just 15 minutes to downtown Bar Harbor, 5 minutes to Acadia National Park. Enjoy easy access to Sand Beach, Southwest Harbor, Indian Point (a good spot for seal and eagle spotting) while avoiding the in-town traffic. In winter, ice skate on the pond or cross country ski on the groomed trails available at Echo Lake on various carriage trails. Although the cabin is in the woods, all access roads are well-plowed.

August 4-11, 2007: WOW .... what can we say? Maine is so awesome. This is a beautiful cabin and we want to thank you for sharing it with us. We did so many fun things this week. Whale watching, Acadia, fishing, touring, eating, popovers at Jordan pond, and miniature golf just to name a few. The boys, Sam and Charlie enjoyed catching dragon flies and frogs in the pond. August 19-26 2007: What a wonderful cabin which is beyond our imagination! ! ! Everybody falls in love with the beauties this place provides. Sounds like that spending a week in the house, relaxing, cooking, playing and chatting already makes the trip a blackjack. We like everything here except, mmm, nothing we can find out!

A Touch of Heaven

Wow, it was so overwhelming to choose from so many rentals on the Internet. But our family of four, first-time visitors to the wonderful State of Maine, struck gold with this fabulous rental. It far exceeded our expectations and the pictures don't completely reveal the charm and wonderful character and comfort of the interior of this beautiful house, as well as the peace and beauty outside.

Our two boys were so excited when we first arrived that they didn't want to leave this delightful property to explore Acadia, just minutes away. There were so many wonderful, homey touches that the owners provided to make our week truly a touch of heaven. The "cabin" was immaculate and the kitchen stocked with everything we could possibly have needed. We appreciated the basket of local information and brochures. The shelves were filled with games for all ages as well as books. We enjoyed the table in the Great Room that was perfect for family board games while looking out the beautiful picture windows. The wrap-around deck was huge and a great place to listen to the babbling brook and watch birds.

The cabin was in a perfect location to explore Mount Desert Island. We appreciated its seclusion with a pond and brook. Our boys enjoyed counting the frogs and we were delighted one morning to see two deer come to the pond. We were just minutes from Acadia National Park and it was also in a good location to explore the quiet side of the island.

The owners sent really helpful local information and hints about the cabin before our arrival. We truly felt at home in the cabin and felt like we were saying goodbye to a friend when we left. Although I was originally leery about a private rental without a rental agency, this was an incredbily easy experience and all transactions and communications were handled smoothly and efficiently. I would highly recommend this rental and we can't wait until we can return.

This is one Maryland family that has learned that Maine is indeed the way life was meant to be.
