Located in a private setting, beautifully landscaped with arbor, fountain, garden pond and waterfall. This home has it all with a full gourmet custom kitchen to beautiful sitting rooms with fireplaces. Living area has open-concept with skylights and high vaulted ceiling. A large screened-in porch overlooks gardens and bird feeding area. All bedrooms are individually appointed and have private baths, TV, VCR, queen-size beds, some with canopy tops and fireplaces. Located within walking distance to beautiful sandy beaches.

Wonderful House; Plenty of Room

This house was a great choice for us. It was very clean and very comfortable and had all the amenities we could want (except for the 10 beach chairs--we never did find those and had to buy some). It accommodated our 9 family members (including 4 kids ages 3-6) very nicely. It should be noted, though, that the 5th bedroom is really a small sleeping nook off the master bedroom with 2 beds which are smaller than regular twin beds. This worked quite nicely for us, but the beds would not fit 2 adults. This room shares the master bath. The sleep sofa is on the screened porch.

The house was very spacious and well equipped. There was plenty of room for kids to play and for everyone to do their own thing. Dining on the screened porch was lovely. We chose not to use the gas grill on the patio because there are lots of mosquitoes! Don't plan on any outdoor activities at the house because you'll be eaten alive! Better to stay on the porch and enjoy the soothing sound of the waterfall in the little pond. Lots of restaurants and things to do in this area.

Rye beach is beautiful but not an easy walk with young children. We had only one beach pass (previous renters had lost one) and 3 cars which made it necessary to shuttle people back and forth to the beach. This was very inconvenient and time consuming. There are no bathhouse facilities at this beach, but the beach itself was wonderful! At low tide there are little pools of water just great for toddlers to play in.

The Ice House restaurant was a great little family place with great ice cream. Just down the street from the restaurant is a Coast Guard station and Fort Constitution. Odione State Park with the Science Center on the grounds was a great place to visit and bring a grill or picnic lunch with a playground, restroom facilities, and lots of picnic tables. There is a small pebbly beach area where some people were swimming and lots of rocks for kids to explore and look for sea treasures. Science Center (separate admission) was a fun place for kids with a hands-on pool with starfish and hermit crabs.

We spent a fun day at the nearby water park. Bring your own cooler with food and drinks as park prices are pretty high ($3.25/drink).

We would definitely recommend this property to a friend and want to return there ourselves.
Owner's Response: We do appreciate all responses from our renters. Beach chairs were located at the rear of the house for renter's use. This is where they are left for our guests at the beginning of each season.

This season was quite wet in New England. Rye, being a coastal town with many marsh areas, tends to have mosquito issues during the warmer months. We have a Mosquito Magnet on our rental property to take care of our specific area which usually takes care of the problem. Apparently the excessive wetness was more than the Mosquito Magnet could handle this season. Next season, we will continue with the Mosquito Magnet but, will take a more aggressive approach by having our grassy areas sprayed by a landscape company to hopefully take care of any future mosquito issues. Understanding Owner. Relaxation. Solitude

From the first step in the process Joanne was friendly, understanding and a joy to deal with. When a small hiccup occurred in the rental process she was very good. Upon arrival the Arbour Inn is everything you see in the pictures and more. The area is very quiet and is best for a relaxation holiday with family and friends. All the bedrooms were beautiful with queen beds and all my friends loved the accomodations. It has a very well appointed kitchen where we made some lovely gourment dinners. Due to the hot spell we only ate our meals in the screened in dining area which is a lovely relaxing area (morning coffee and candle light dinners).
Easy access to beaches and historic Portsmouth. Lovely location. We will take another week next July Joanne.

We loved the house and the location. We would definitely recommend it to a friend and hope to return again as a family. Note: Please add a shade in the small sleeping nook in the master bedroom.
