We loved our weekend here. My sister and brother-in law as well as my husband and myself stayed in the downstairs apartment. Rooms are quite spacious -- the pictures don't do it justice. Bedrooms are air conditioned, which we only needed one night -- ceiling fans in both bedrooms and kitchen (very large as well).
Owners are VERY nice. Our refrigerator had soda, juice, milk and homemade jam waiting for us (among other things).
The location is absolutely the best. You are only about 1.5 to 2.5 miles to everything!!
We will definitely stay here again!! Next time we will bring another couple and grab the upstairs apt as well.
Thanks for a memorable weekend!
Our family has stayed in a lot of vacation rentals over the past 10 years and a few stick out in our memories as really great places, this is one of them! Prudy and Lennie have a wonderful guest home here. It's away from it all yet within walking distance or a short drive of everything. The garden and sundeck are a little piece of heaven. The house is immaculate and the rooms large and welcoming. Prudy provided fresh towels daily and changed the sheets during our week long stay. We were so glad we found the Maxwelton Inn. It's a quiet, pleasant respite from Newport and the crowds of tourists but we were still close enough to enjoy the town, mansions, cliff walk and beaches. Prudy and Lennie are wonderful hosts. Thank you so much. We hope to return to the Maxwelton Inn again.
My wife and I couldn't had asked for anything more. A genuine 150 year old Yankee farmhouse with history in ever room but with discreet modern amenities and white glove clean throughout. If you want a sauna, hot tub and a moderne glass and chrome coffee table this isn't for you. It's quintessential New England in every way and we love it! Plus, it's away from the Newport busy-ness but just a five or ten minute drive from all the fabulous sights and things to do. We've stayed at many really nice B&B's in NY, Pa and New England and, while this technically isn't a B&B, it's as good or better than any we've been to. On a scale of one to five stars I'd give it a six (I don't think it let me though).
This was our second time staying here, renting the downstairs two bedroom. This trip we brought new friends who also fell in love with the place. I wouldn't stay anywhere else when visiting Newport and the surrounding area - it feels like home. Waiting for us on arrival was freshly baked bread and coffee cake with milk, water and homemade jam in the refrigerator.
This place is immaculate. We used the grill every evening and ate out on the deck. Thank you Prudy & Lennie.

What a relaxing stay.
I had the choice of staying here or at the local HoJo. I sure am glad that I chose to stay here. Upon arrival I was greeted by the owner who was warm and friendly. He showed us around the property and the spacious grounds. Once inside, I loved how the first floor was decorated. It had a warm country cottage feel. The area was extremely quiet and peaceful. I truly enjoyed my stay and will come again.
My husband and I rented the downstairs apartment last weekend when we came to visit our daughter, a Marine stationed at the naval base nearby. This property was immaculate, maid service every morning. Owners left lots of local pamphlets of things to do while in town. This was just what our daughter needed -- a peaceful haven away from the rigors of her job school for a few days - much better than a hotel room! Quick access to the base, beach, downtown Newport - very centrally located. We would highly recommend this property to anyone who is interested in visiting the Newport/Middletown area.
