In Spring 2013, Annie Laurie Cottage completed a magnificent restoration and redecoration. Everything is brand new from top to bottom, inside and out ... appliances, furniture, flooring, linens, drapery, paint, fixtures, siding, doors, windows ... the works! The interior walls are completely covered with ship-lap wood paneling, and the trim and mouldings are second to none. It was a year-long labor of love by two very talented owners who built and furnished every corner with whimsy and practicality. Coastal Living Magazine should do a feature on this.
Located just 105 yards from Coast Cottages' fabulous oceanside pools, pavilion and beach boarwalk, this home is destined to be a St. Simons' superstar for years to come. You'll love the ocean views from the balconies, cleverly placed windows, and especially the rooftop deck with its built-in gallery seating. And once inside, you'll be amazed at Annie Laurie's creativity, craftmanship, and splendor.
FIRST FLOOR: Bedroom 1 is like a second master with a hand made king bed and ensuite bath. Bedroom 2 has a hand made queen bed with ensuite bath. The kids will love bedroom 3 with its rope-style bunk bed with built in video screens and 1/2 bath.
SECOND FLOOR: You'll love the open living, dining and kitchen arrangement where everyone can be together for family get-togethers. Enjoy a sing-along around the antique upright piano. There's plenty of comfortable seating on the wrap-around sectional with glimpses of the ocean through several windows. Check out the old-style wooden cafeteria table which seats 10 for meals. And the kitchen is nothing short of amazing with its granite counters and flourishes of vintage (yet modern)
appliances. The breakfast bar even has built-in soda shop stools. Step out on the breezy, furnished balcony for a some salt air and relaxing conversation among the palms.
You can watch the 62' flat screen TV from almost anywhere on the second floor which also has a convenient full bath. You'll also find a secret 1/2 bedroom equipped with a handmade set of bunks, each with its own porthole window (one with an ocean view)! Bring your x-box too, because every bunk bed in Annie Laurie has a wall-mounted video screen ready for your device.
THIRD FLOOR: On your way up the stairs, take a peek out the left window at the 1936 Historic Coast Guard Station about 100 yards away ... it was the architectural inspiration for Annie Laurie Cottage. Your jaw will drop as you enter a spacious master suite which occupies the entire third floor. The king headboard rises almost to the ceiling where three luxurious paddle fans move the air in grand style. Fall asleep to the 62' flat screen TV, and wake up to an ocean sunrise without ever leaving the bed.
There are two sitting areas, one nestled in a gorgeous bay window with built-in seating and a fabulous ocean view. Enter the master bath through frosted glass doors and marvel at the unbelievable tile work throughout. Peak out the oval porthole window while you shower and watch the pelicans fly along the shoreline!
Step outside onto the adjoining master bedroom balcony and climb the circular stairs to the rooftop deck. We have built-in gallery seating so your group can enjoy an ocean sunrise over coffee, or a beautiful sunset over the cottages. What a treat!
You and your family wil enjoy full privileges at Coast Cottages' beach front pools and pavilion. The neighborhood sits front and center on St. Simons Island's magnificent Coast Guard beach, the widest stretch of sand on the island. This is a place where you can walk the beach at high tide, low tide, any tide! (Note: vacation rentals south of Arnold Road cannot
make this claim.)
