St. Simons Island Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Beautifully renovated ocean view Coast Cottage sleeps 10

Interior size: approx 2300 sf

Address of property: 12 Coast Cottage Lane, St. Simons Island, GA 31522

In Spring 2013, Annie Laurie Cottage completed a magnificent restoration and redecoration. Everything is brand new from top to bottom, inside and out ... appliances, furniture, flooring, linens, drapery, paint, fixtures, siding, doors, windows ... the works! The interior walls are completely covered with ship-lap wood paneling, and the trim and mouldings are a work of art. It was a year-long labor of love by a very talented couple who built and furnished every corner with whimsy and practicality. Coastal Living Magazine should do a feature on Annie Laurie!

Located just 105 yards from Coast Cottages' fabulous oceanside pools, pavilion and beach boarwalk, this home is destined to be a St. Simons' superstar for years to come. You'll love the ocean views from the balconies, cleverly placed windows, and especially the rooftop deck with its built-in gallery seating. And once inside, you'll be amazed at Annie Laurie's creativity, craftmanship, and splendor.

FIRST FLOOR: Bedroom 1 is like a second master with a hand-made king bed and ensuite bath. Bedroom 2 has a hand-made queen bed with ensuite bath. The kids will love bedroom 3 with its rope-style bunk bed, built-in video screens and convenient 1/2 bath.

SECOND FLOOR: You'll love the open living, dining and kitchen arrangement where everyone can be together for family get-togethers. Enjoy a sing-along around the antique upright piano. There's plenty of comfortable seating on the wrap-around sectional with glimpses of the ocean through several windows. Check out our old-style wooden cafeteria table which seats 10 for meals. The seats tuck underneath and out of the way when not in use. And the kitchen is nothing short of amazing with its granite counters and flourishes of vintage (yet modern) appliances. The breakfast bar even has built-in soda shop stools. After breakfast, step out on the breezy, furnished balcony for a some sweet salt air and relaxing conversation among the swaying palms.

You can watch the 62' flat screen TV from almost anywhere on the second floor which has a convenient full bath. You'll also find a secluded 1/2 bedroom equipped with a handmade set of bunks, each with its own porthole window (one with an ocean view)! Bring your x-box too, because every bunk bed in Annie Laurie has a wall-mounted video screen ready for your favorite device.

THIRD FLOOR: On your way up the stairs, take a peek out the left window at the 1936 Historic Coast Guard Station about 100 yards away ... it was the architectural inspiration for Annie Laurie Cottage. Your jaw will drop as you enter a spacious master suite which occupies the entire third floor. The king headboard rises almost to the ceiling where three luxurious paddle fans slowly move the air in grand style. Fall asleep to the 62' flat screen TV, and wake up to an ocean sunrise without ever leaving the bed.

There are two sitting areas, one nestled in a gorgeous bay window with built-in seating and a fabulous ocean view. Enter the master bath through frosted glass doors and marvel at the unbelievable tile work throughout. Peak out the oval porthole window while you shower and watch the pelicans fly along the shoreline!

For a real treat, step outside and climb the circular stairs to the rooftop deck. We have built-in gallery seating so your group can enjoy an ocean sunrise over coffee, or a beautiful evening sunset over the cottages. Great for star gazing as well!

You and your family will enjoy full privileges at Coast Cottages' beach front pools and pavilion. Our award winning neighborhood sits front and center on St. Simons Island's magnificent Coast Guard beach, the widest stretch of sand on the island. This is a place where you can walk the beach at high tide, low tide, any tide! (Note: vacation rentals south of Arnold Road cannot make this claim.)

We have rented quite a few vacation houses (mostly in Seaside) & this was the best by far! Extremely well designed & impeccably maintained! We will most certainly return!

A Fantasy Vacation Cottage

  • 5 of 5

The Annie Laurie Cottage has been designed with a multitude of well conceived special details at every turn to take your stay out of the ordinary and into unforgettable for adults and children alike. Honestly the wonderful pictures on the website had us excited about how nice the house would be and it was even better. Unique places and views have been created throughout the house. (What child could forget the little porthole window in their bunk that woke them up with sunshine in the morning?) Little things like well labeled light switches and drawers, quality cutlery, utensils, small appliances, plush towels . . . All add up to a calming relaxing stay. We felt pampered every moment from the sunrise on the roof deck till we were snuggled in the high bed watching a favorite movie or reading ourselves to sleep. All of the other wonderful things about the location and amenities of Cottage Coast Lane complete the sense of "escape from the ordinary" that Annie Laurie provides.

Amazing week!

  • 5 of 5

We returned yesterday from a week stay at the Annie Laurie cottage. Pictures can't show just how precious this cottage is. My husband and the other couple with us loved all the details that have been placed in this cottage. The cottage was being cleaned when we arrived so we went back into town to pick up groceries. When we returned and walked in, we were so excited to see just how precious the cottage was. This was our first visit to SSI and we LOVED it. The cottage, the location, the food(Crabdaddy's is incredible!) and all the activities (golf, kayaking, walking the beach and neighborhood, relaxing on the beach) were wonderful. We hope to go back in the future and we will hopefully stay at the Annie Laurie!!

Wonderful Home!

  • 5 of 5

We visit St. Simons every year for Mother’s Day and always stay at Coast Cottages. Annie Lauire is now our favorite cottage – it’s so charming and homey! No detail was overlooked when they renovated the home, from the retro red refrigerator and sink in the kitchen to the comfy toppers on the mattresses. We’ll be staying again next year!

Honeymoon Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Our wonderful honeymoon was spent at this Beautiful Romantic house located about 10 steps from the Beach and the two private swimming pools for this little community.

Everything in the house was just perfect; from the front porch to the Widows Walk, what a lovely house, beautifully decorated and with much imagination. With too many wow factors to mention, no expense has been spared thru out the house to ensure your vacation will be fun, relaxing and certainly most enjoyable. (After 6 hours spent on Cumberland Island pedaling a bicycle, the Jacuzzi in the Master Bathroom was pure heaven)!

My husband and I would like to say that we would more than recommend a trip to the Annie Laurie. You will have the time of your life! We certainly did and now my whole family are wanting to vacation at the Annie Laurie as soon as they can!

Below expectations

  • 3 of 5

This was our second vacation at Coast Cottages and the location on St. Simons coupled with the pools and beach access is perfect - especially if you have kids. However, we will choose a different cottage next time.

We arrived and the cottage was filthy, including food and dirt under the couches that clearly collected over several visits. With little ones crawling around this was simply unacceptable. In addition, all the TVs had terrible reception so relaxing in front of the tv or finding something for the kids to watch after a long day on the beach was not an option. There were several bulbs burned out in the living area and many other issues that made it evident the home is not well cared for.

We highly recommend Coast Cottages, however, we suggest you choose a different cottage. We feel we paid a lot of money for substandard accommodations. Overall we still had a wonderful vacation - the only blemish was Annie Laurie Cottage.

Owner's Response: I am the owner of Annie Laurie Cottage. I have a rental agent who is handling the cottage rentals. After checking with the agent, she reports that these renters did not contact her or anyone else at her office about any problems during their stay. Had they done so, the issues would have been addressed immediately--the cleaning service would have returned to clean and to replace any light bulbs that were out (there are also bulbs at the cottage that the renters had access to had they been resourceful enough to look), and the cable company would have been contacted to make any repairs necessary to restore proper service. I cannot imagine why the renters would have suffered in silence when help was only a phone call away. My agent reports that these renters told of their complaints at the time of checkout. The cable repairs and bulb replacements were done for the next renters, as well as a thorough cleaning. Bottom line: these renters did not take any action or make any requests of the rental agent during their stay, and have only themselves to blame if they were not comfortable. If it was that bad, why not request to be moved to other accomodations?

St. Simons Island is sometimes described as a little piece of paradise. Scarcely known outside Georgia, it is quite possibly the best kept secret along the coastal Southeast. The island's majestic entrance over miles of unspoiled marshland was memorialized by Sidney Lanier in his poem The Marshes of Glynn. It's a place where an unpretentious low country meets the great ocean ... where huge tidal changes breathe life into the grassy expanse flourishing in wildlife. Somewhere in between you will discover the magic of St. Simons Island. Upon arrival, visitors are enveloped by a feeling of calm amidst ancient moss-draped oaks standing alongside glorious palms and tall southern pines. Many miles of bike paths connect a variety of shopping, eating, cultural and recreational areas within the island. There's always something fun and interesting to do. The beach at St. Simons Island is like no other. As the 7-foot tide shifts from high to low, it pulls the shoreline 1/2 mile out to sea uncovering a breathtaking system sandbars and shoals. Development is largely unseen along the north end of the beach where an abundant shrub forest has been protected and allowed to expand naturally. Acres of young dune fields nurture sensitive Sea Oats while thousands of shore birds migrate from one sand bar to the next with the receding tide. The owners and guests of Coast Cottages at St. Simons cherish their unrestricted view and enjoyment of this ecological wonderland.

Things to do on St. Simons Island:

Kayak through the marsh streams, walk the beach, eat at many great restaurants, climb the lighthouse, golf, tennis, miniature golf, small skate board park, go shopping at many quaint shops, go antique hunting, tour Fort Frederica, tour the Old Coast Guard Station (right next door to Coast Cottages), walk the sandbars at low tide, go skim boarding along the shoreline, take a trolley tour of the island, hang out at the Coast Cottages pool, go to a water park on Jekyll Island, take paddle board lessons, go crabbing or fishing right off the pier.
