Peaceful and relaxing escape

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I found the Fergusons' Cabins to be the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The cabins are located in a beautiful wooded setting with fantastic winter views of Grandfather Mountain and also the nearby slopes.
We loved lounging in the jacuzzi and relaxing in front of a cozy fire each evening. The huge glass doors in the living room were wonderful as they allowed us to enjoy the beautiful scenery front the comfort of the fire.
The cabin has all the amenities of home and more. The Fergusons have created a very warm and welcoming environment. We hope to return again this winter!

ok cabin

  • 3 of 5
We enjoyed our visit to "the cabin" but were disappointed with the accommodations. The view and the location are beautiful but the cabin appears to be neglected. We had several things break (water leak from the fridge and the drain line from the hot tub)and were unable to reach the owners. There is no cell reception at the cabin and no long distance calls from the land line. We did reach the handyman, who was extremely efficient and wonderful but we never received a call from the owners. Disappointing! The teflon pots and pans were terribly scratched, unusable, which made preparing meals quite a challenge. The best pan was the crockpot!
Overall, we enjoyed the view, snow, and the mountains. I would highly recommend the cabin if there were improvements and better communication.

Delightful Time

  • 5 of 5
My four children and I had a fantastic time. The house was conveniently located in a gorgeous setting, and it had everything we needed to be comfortable. My youngest daughter, who is 9, said she'd be perfectly happy to spend the whole week in the house and never go anywhere else! We enjoyed the hot tub and the fireplace and the loft was a huge hit as well.

Charming. Janice was a great resource!

We were @ this charming cabin for a Blowing Rock wedding. We only wish we had more time to spend there. The cabin had anything and everything we could possibly need during our stay. Our fur babies loved it, too! Thanks for being pet friendly and not making bringing pets a costly pleasure!

Fall fairytale

  • 5 of 5
What an incredible stay! We were so lucky to stay at your cabin in the mountains at the PEAK of the season. My children enjoyed going on walks into pictures they have only seen in storybooks - up and down winding roads in the most picturesque mountains I have ever seen. We enjoyed a wolly worm crossing, stomping in the leaves, collecting 'crystals' (rocks), chipmunk spotting, and being outside in their first snow flurry.

Inside was just as magical. The jacuzzi was great - I could control the temperature easily and could give the kids a big warm bathwater experience in lieu of a too-hot hot-tub. They enjoyed it as much as the loft - where I could hardly believe my 4 year old climbed up into nearly every day and took a nap *entirely* on his own volition. In retrospect, I may have enjoyed the loft more than the kids!

The kitchen was great - fully stocked and had extras that I wasn't expecting, like spices and extra virgin olive oil. We ended up eating every single meal in, despite planning on going out, because it was just so easy to be home for meals.

The master bedroom was very nice. I slept very well on your mattress and liked the very smooth, high thread count sheets on the bed. That was an unexpected treat at a cabin rental. The views from the bedroom were just as good as in the living room; beautiful - everywhere you looked.

The best part about your place was how the whole placed looked and felt like a cabin - not a traditional home just built in the mountains. I enjoyed your natural decor, great big fireplace, and rugged beds very much as they served as a continuous reminder of where we were and what we were there to enjoy. The pictures of your place do not do it justice. It is much nicer in person and has a warmth that I'm not sure any picture can really capture.

Thanks again for working with me on rates and for such a lovely stay. We'll be back again soon!

Mountainside Cabin

  • 5 of 5
We had a lovely honeymoon here! Loved the fall color and then relished the snow we got-a taste of real winter, and so fun to use the fireplace!

The local antique shops were such gems and hiking Grandfather Mountain was unforgettable-such a neat "scary" trail!

It was so fun to be able to cook too-having a stove handy was such an exciting preview of real life shopping and making meals together. Beautiful memories. Enjoyed the classic radio station (89.9) and Scrabble on the comfy coutches!

The commanding views of the surrounding mountains and the serenity and seclusion of the cabin were such a wonderful scene for this auspicious time in our lives!

Thank you!

Owner's Response: We're so pleased to know your honeymoon at Mountainside Cabin was so enjoyable. Fall is so beautiful in the High Country and the snow was an early, but welcome, surprise for you. We can just imagine you playing scrabble on the coffee table in front of a roaring fire while the snow fell. We wish you a lifetime of the joy and happiness you shared at Mountainside Cabin. We would love for you to come back for your anniversary!

The High Country offers the most rugged mountains and highest average elevation in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. The landscape is dramatic and spectacular, the people warm and friendly, the climate refreshing and crisp. Along with the glorious foliage, enjoy Banner Elk's Woolly Worm Festival in October, skiing in the winter, golf and hiking in the spring and summer. If you need a reason to come, how about fly fishing, white water rafting, caving, gem mining, antiquing or relaxing with a good book on the deck? Coming back to Mountainside Cabin after a busy day is like having dessert.

Other Activities: Gem mining, snow tubing, outlet shopping, hiking, animal park
