SPECIAL: COMPLIMENTARY LOBSTER DINNER IF BOOKED FOR OPEN TIME:JUNE 9TH -21ST/JUNE 29TH

-JULY 12TH/AUG 16TH-28TH

Our Maine, 'Amish Built Post and Beam House' is on the internationally famous (for yachting) beautiful CHRISTMAS COVE, 2 minutes from the town of South Bristol and located in the heart of New England's most picturesque region. Walk just 300 yards to the equally famous Coveside Restaurant and Marina, where you can dine on fresh lobsters, clams and other local seafood which is caught daily: and feast on the dramatic and spectacular out-island views of the Atlantic Ocean. Also famous for music at least 3 times a week including Sunday afternoon on the deck. The house is surrounded by a pine forest, with peek-a-boo water views to the Cove-just 50 feet away.

There now has been 5 wedding receptions and several family and friends reuinons hosted at the home.

Walk down to the docks and fish for mackerel, or walk/jog through the coniferous rain forest on pine needle-covered trails.

This Non-smoking Maine House was built by the Amish just 8 years ago, and features all tongue and groove custom carpentry, with vaulted ceilings, bamboo floors and huge stone fireplaces. It has five bedrooms-1 master king suite/fireplace upstairs and 1 master king suite on main floor. There are 4 1/2 bathrooms. All the bedrooms have large windows, ceiling fans/3 have large walkout decks.

Contributing to the extraordinary attributes that include: wonderfully exposed tongue and groove wood interiors; interior accents include many fine antiques, and beautiful seascape paintings. The gourmet kitchen is huge, with fabulous granite counters, which flow in to the dining and living room, with ease

With the scent of pine and salt in the air, you can relish in the 'Maine Ambience', and relax like you never have before.

I have been vacationing here 30 years and I live in Denver, CO from Nov. to June and Christmas Cove the rest of the time. I am in the construction business and I had an Amish family in the building business from PA work from my plans to build the shell of this spec home. I had met them several years earlier when they came to Maine to build a 6 car barn/ studio/ loft on the island. Their work is so precise from hand hueing the 12x12 beams to using no nails, only pegs.

My tipical day is 9 holes of golf in early morning and then home to a bit of business and gardening before I head off to lunch with friends and relatives. Back in time for a tennis match and then cook a gourmet dinner for friends.

Claudia Moore purchased this house in 2006

I built this Amish home as a spec home and can't seem to part with it.

The island is great for walking, biking, fishing, golf, tennis and especially enjoying all the fresh sea food like clams, oysters, mussles, lobsters, scallops and swordfish. Our home is know on the island for being able to host the largest parties. Every year we have a 'make your own pizza' party for 40 friends and relatives. Then there are the normal lobster and clam dinners for family reunions.

Exceptional home in a wonderful area of Maine

My family was in the area for my niece's wedding in July of 2013. There were ten of us staying in this lovely home. We had plenty of space and felt comfortable and pampered while staying here. There were plenty of bathrooms so privacy was great. We loved cooking together in the large, modern kitchen and there was plenty of seating to enjoy indoor or outdoor lobster dinners. We did several puzzles and enjoyed many of the extra home amenities such as the wine fridge, espresso machine, rowboat, gas grill, etc. Some reviews mentioned issues with water but we had no problems. The home is close to the marina restaurant and a 30-minute drive to Damariscotta and Newcastle. We spent several afternoons swimming at the Mills in Damariscotta and we also checked out Pemaquid Beach and lighthouse. This home rental was a great find to enjoy our time in Maine and Claudia was very easy to work with.

I wanted to thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. We had a wonderful time! The house was ideal with each family having the privacy of their own suite. The children were so comfortable and that made the parents comfortable. The kitchen was perfect for our large meal time buffets.

The warm gatherings around the table and fun times in the large living area will be etched on the memories of all who shared the special spot.

It has created a special moment for all of us!

Worth a visit!

We rented this property for 2 weeks. We knew the area well and were not put off by the distance to the local grocery or town area (10-15 miles) We found the house well equipped, loved the large living/dining areas and awesome kitchen! The house offered our group of 11 plenty of space to spread out and the decor was charming, and comfortable. I would not, however, suggest that it slept 12. The futon in the attic loft is not a sleeping area. There are no windows, fans or ventilation in the attic area, though nicely finished, it is too hot in the summer to expect anyone to sleep there, nevermind a lack of any other furniture besides the futon. I would suggest 10 people as maximum for comfort.

We did day trips to Boothbay and Camden and drove about 20 minutes to the nearest beach (Pemaquid) which charges $4/person but there are discounts for purchasing several tickets in advance. The beach also had a great snack bar with daily specials and was well groomed and maintained. Also nearby is the lobster co-op where visitors and locals can purchase lobsters and steamers as they come off the boats. We used this often!

The first week we were there, we had 11 people at the house. By the 5th day, we had drained the well. We were conserving water (not using the washing machine, only running the dishwasher at night, and even not showering every day). We went out and purchased a dozen gallons of water and used them to brush teeth, wash up and even do dishes. After the first week, 5 family members left and the 4 more of us left for the night to attend a wedding and the water started to come back. We returned and tried to do laundry, but had problems with the washer which kept shutting off and had to be reset 5-7 times during the cycle due to low water pressure. I did make the owner aware of the water issues, as well as some house issues, which were to be addressed. (many light bulbs out, 1/2 the wine fridge was not working) We found the house very welcoming, the beds and bedding were conducive to a great nights sleep, and the numerous ceiling fans and cool Maine nights were restful! Though there is no view of the cove from the house, the morning walks around the area offer beautiful views and great photo opps!

The finishes of granite, stainless and cement floors were modern. There were extra sheets and towels and condiments etc in the kitchen. We eventually found a drawer with instructions and suggestions/menus.

Having rented numerous VRBO's this most defiantly is the best one yet. Enough room for everyone to have their own space. We loved So.Bristol, the CO-OP was a cool place to hang out. Got to visit with Arnold Gamage 4th generation Gamage (a true Lobster Man). Would recommend this place to anyone.

Our South Bristol Stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our family time at the Voelker's vacation home! All the amenities of home and then some are to be had here. Located on a quiet road, it's very clean and spacious, more than enough room for us 8 adults. Beautiful furnishings and artwork make the place very homey. We took advantage of the gas grill and large deck for meals in. The photos here really don't do it justice! Claudia was most helpful with answers to our questions and suggestions of things to do in the area. South Bristol's small town charm and friendly people were a pleasant experience. We enjoyed a short walk to great burgers and the view at the Coveside Restaurant, delicious blueberry pancakes in town at the Harborside Cafe, succulent lobsters from the Fisherman's Co-op and at Miss Ashley's, and a service at the Congregational Church on Sunday. The guys took in some rounds of golf at Wawanock, too. It's a short drive to Pemaquid Point where you can enjoy the lighthouse and the crash of the waves on the rocks, and Pemaquid beach with its white sands. All these things and more made for a most enjoyable stay! We highly recommend it!!!
