Now that summer is almost over and kids back to school, don't forget about the wonderful fall colors of Maine. There will still be an abundant supply of lobsters, clams and fresh seafood.
Our Maine, 'Amish Built Post and Beam House' is on the internationally famous (for yachting) beautiful CHRISTMAS COVE, 2 minutes from the town of South Bristol and located in the heart of New England's most picturesque region. Walk just 300 yards to the equally famous Coveside Restaurant and Marina, where you can dine on fresh lobsters, clams and other local seafood which is caught daily: and feast on the dramatic and spectacular out-island views of the Atlantic Ocean. The house is surrounded by a pine forest, with peek-a-boo water views to the Cove-just 50 feet away.
There now has been 3 wedding receptions and several family and friends reuinons hosted at the home.
Walk down to the docks and fish for mackerel, or walk/jog through the coniferous rain forest on pine needle-covered trails.

My husband Fritz has been vacationing on the island for 60 years. I have only been here 30. We live in Denver, CO from Nov. to June and Christmas Cove the rest of the time. I am in the construction business and we had an Amish family in the building business from PA work from our plans to build the shell of this spec home. We had met them several years earlier when they came to Maine to build a 6 car barn/ studio/ loft on the island. Their work is so precise from hand hueing the 12x12 beams to using no nails, only pegs.
Our tipical day is 9 holes of golf in early morning and then home to a bit of business and gardening before we head off to lunch on our all wooden antique Lyman boat. Back in time for a tennis match and then cook a gourmet dinner for family and friends.
Our familys have been on the island for over 100 years. We have two other homes on the island that we built and enjoy for our summer use. We built this Amish home as a spec home and can't seem to part with it.
The island is great for walking, biking, fishing, golf, tennis and especially enjoying all the fresh sea food like clams, oysters, mussles, lobsters, scallops and swordfish. Our home is know on the island for being able to host the largest parties. Every year we have a 'make your own pizza' party for 40 friends and relatives. Then there are the normal lobster and clam dinners for family reunions.
There have now been 3 wedding receptions at the home. Christmas Cove Restaurant, bar and Marina with live music-400 yards, South bristol fisherman's Co-Op with local lobsters and steamers cooked for you and eating on dock, boat tours, Chartered Fishing Excursions
