We bid you a warm welcome to the most charming village of Italy : amazing Acqualoreto is positioned very near to Todi, the most liveable town in the world.
Acqualoreto is your very best position in summer, spring, fall or winter. It is cool in summer, and sunny in winter. The house is the old school of Acqualoreto that has been lovingly restored by the owners, and is now one of the most characteristic home you could think of. The home is divided over 3 floors, and is an entire house.
The house has a lovely outside seating area for breakfast, lunch or dinner, 2 loungers for sunbathing, and a lovely dining room for extended dinners.
The ground floor is the kitchen, that is fully tooled for gourmet dinners.
First floor is the living room with fireplace, TV and CDs, books about the area and large paintingscollection.
The 2nd floor has 2 bedrooms, each for 2 people.
The master bedroom has a full bed, the 2nd bedroom is a pullout sofa. The room itself doubles as a study.
There is a bathroom with washing basin, large shower and toilet and bidet.
The house has high speed internet with excellent connection all around the house.
The village dates back to the 11th century, and living here is like reliving that life with the assets of today.
The views around the house are truly magnificent. The village itself is as charming as they come. In the morning, you go to the bar for the best capuccino of italy, and everybody walks in for a chat. You can then choose to go touring the many amazing villages and cities in the area, like Todi, Orvieto, Perugia, Spello,Bevagna, Assisi or Montefalco. Or you can just relax, go sunbathe, have a swim at the pool available for you. Or go and have lunch at the fine restaurant in Acqualoreto, called La cruccola, homey cuisine for a reasonable price. in short, Acqualoreto is your perfect holiday getaway. It is a real gem, and you will find it is hard to leave ! Ideal for those who wish to experience the good italian life hands on. Acqualoreto has always attracted gifted and artistic people from all over the world, from Bermuda to New York, from Amsterdam to Paris.
Every wednesday at 6, you can meet all the local english speaking inhabitants, who will welcome you to their town, so join in !
I am a real estate consultant in Italy, specialised in high end property in Tuscany and Umbria.
Michiel Bloemgarten purchased this house in 2001
Because Acqualoreto is the best spot of Umbria !
Glorious views, relaxed lifestyle, excellent restaurants, a fine pool, and very close to Todi, Perugia and Orvieto !
My wife and I spent a lovely 2 weeks for our honeymoon in your charming house in Umbria. It was all perfect : great views, a cosy and excellently equipped and comfortable house, and such a lovely village !
We attended the wednesday evening drink with the local foreigners which was great fun. Excellent coffee at the bar, and it was great to be so central and be surrounded by the friendly Italians. We had time to see all the beautiful Umbrian cities and see Rome as well on this trip, as it was all within reach.
We will definitely be back !
Many thanks !
This review is from the heart for that's how Aqualoretto makes you feel - totally in love with village life in Umbria. We stayed at Michael's apartment for one month and totally relaxed into the village lifestyle. We found the people in the village to be very friendly (especially if you smiled and attempted to speak Italian). We were invited to learn how to make pasta the traditional way from a very dear 83year old neighbour who had been doing this for 70 years, welcomed to the "circula" (village bar and cafe) by locals and the many warm friendly expats who live in the surrounding area. A twenty to thirty minute drive took us to beautiful surrounding villages with good restaurants, theatres and amazing culture and history to keep us busy when we weren't swimming or lying by the very secluded pool of a neighbour. We visited late May to late June when the weather was just turning from Spring to Summer, with many spring flower vistas to keep my camera busy. The apartment was rustic and very comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen ready for us to cook up a treat with the fresh produce purchased from local markets and visiting food vans. Anyone who has mobility issues would find the two flights of stairs a challenge. We visited Nazza's restaurant situated in the village wall - a must if you stay here- but tell her how much you would like or you will get "the works"! If you want to relax and enjoy authentic Italian village life (within medieval walls) with close proximity to major cities, this is the place.
Very pretty house in a pretty village. we spent one week there in acqualoreto exploring the area and region. Ideally located to reach easily beautifull sites, lakes, villages ….
House warmly decorated and friendly welcome,
My husband and I stayed one week in this charming house in the old quarter of the delightful village of Acqualoreto. Amazing views both east and west as we walked the village perimeter. The residents are friendly and welcoming and they take pride in their homes, with flower-filled balconies and steps. We loved the clocktower bells at 7 am and 8 pm. The bar, 1 minute away, makes fabulous capuccino. Comfortable bed, and the silence and wonderful air of the Umbrian hills made for restful sleep.
It is the second time we go to the same place.!!!!.We just love it. The first thing that you encounter in the area is the landscape. There are beautiful scenic views all over the place . Before going to Umbria we used to go to Tuscany but we think that this is at least as beautiful (although less known) than the neighbour region. The apartment is located in the beautiful historic center of Acqualoreto. You can breath history here.. there are also beautiful cities at short distance; Todi, Orvieto, Assise, Peruggia, and so many others...that are really worth visiting.. Then of course the Italian cuisine...Our host gave us plenty of suggestions where local people go..Small restaurants plenty of charm... Just wonderful . My kids love the swimming pool...Really special..Thanks Maria Pia and Pepino for your warm hospitality..We met people smiling, having a lot of patience with our poor Italian, proud of showing their place ..Some of them are now our friends
Michiel , Thanks a lot for all your interesting advices and for letting us know this wonderful location. And for sure we are coming back real soon
