As featured in the book 'The Whale in Lowell's Cove,' Orrs Island is a short drive down the island chain from Brunswick. Our exquisitely maintained architectural lighthouse features 7 decks for lounging as well as wooded privacy. A swimming beach is within walking distance. Great for family reunions, corporate retreats & weddings. Working lobster boats can be seen in the cove. The cove is a good place for kayaking, canoeing and fishing. There are lovely walks and spectacular views. Our third floor deck is a wonderful place to enjoy the evening sunset. Pets are considered. Handicap accessibility possible. 'Thanks for a wonderful stay in one of Maine's prettiest spots' (The Traynors) 'The house was perfectly suited to all our needs:plenty of room;sitting areas;space for kids to play; a great functional kitchen with everything we needed!!!' From our guest book: 'This is a really beautiful home and a wonderful place to stay. My husband and I loved the upstairs bedroom with the cool breeze at night. The girls loved crabbing in the early morning when the tides were low. Getting clam shells and playing in the waves at Popham beach was a fun way to spend an afternoon. Roasting marshmallows and making s'mores, playing croquet, eating fresh lobster and laughing a lot. I loved relaxing with a cup of coffee in the morning on the front porch. The best part was spending a week with the people we love the most.....our family! ' (The Willets)

I wanted my family around me and to be on the ocean, all wishes were met. It is hard to leave, it feels like home. I especially like the many rocks gathered by visitors and placed around the house. the house was comfortable and well furnished and perfect for a large family reunion. there wee 11 of us and we all had our private space and a great area to hang out together the kids were pleased by all the hermit crabs found on the nearby local beaches. we were very pleased to find the kitchen well stocked with lots of spices, sauces and a great variety of kitchen utensils. the water at the house was considered to be drinkable but it really STANK and tasted awful. the landlord said that it would be fixed u p shortly but we had to deal with the bad water until thursday afternoon. so for three quarters of our stay we had to bring in water which was quite a nuisance to manage water for 11 people. when we complained to the owner she said that was part of the "quaintness" of the place. excuse me that was not quaint it was just poor management and that put a damper on our stay
Owner's Response: Dear Renters, For years our home has provided a joyful place for many families including our own. Orrs Island is a very special place for families and friends to gather in love and comraderie. Last summer we installed a high tech water filter which uses sand not chemicals to filter out the iron found in the ledge. Its installation was a diversion from the usual type of filter used on the islands. It took awhile for our installer to figure it out. But its working perfectly now and is environmentally friendly. Filtering the water with this filter helps us leave a smaller footprint on our beautiful earth.
