The Fishermen’s Cottages
The cottage is situated in the picturesque town of Broadstairs on the South East Coast of England.
You will find Cottages 2 & 2a in a quiet courtyard in the old part of town. Cottage 2 is 3* graded, while cottage 2a is 4*. Cottage 1 is also graded 4*& is in the road adjacent. All properties are within easy access to the beach, local shops restaurants, bistros & wine bars which are only a minute’s walk away.
A lovely atmosphere has been created in all the cottages, built in 1850, but have been completely refurbished & tastefully decorated in traditional design in keeping with the style of each building.
Cottage 2 has the added attraction of beamed ceilings throughout, but as you enter each cottage you get the feeling of stepping back in time to those days when Broadstairs was a fishing town & the men made their living from fishing, boat building or smuggling!
Each Cottage has 2 bedrooms, & can comfortably sleep four people & comes complete with a fully equipped kitchen, lounge and shower room .
Cottage 1 and 2a have washing machine and a laundry service is available for cottage 2 at an additional charge if required.
We have endeavoured to ensure that your stay here in Broadstairs is both comfortable & enjoyable so hopefully you will want to return again!
Parking is available in the main car park across the road, & we can purchase a permit for you for £20.00 for 7 days, which allows you to park in other car parks around the isle. If you require a permit please advise us in advance with you car registration number & we will be happy to arrange this for you prior to your arrival.
All properties are available throughout the year enabling you to visit the area outside the main holiday season, or for a short break if desired.

You will be guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome whenever you come to Broadstairs. This picturesque town has a special atmosphere all of its own. Originally a small fishing hamlet, the towns ancient maritime past is nowhere more clearly seen, than in the huddle of cottages, old customs house & 16th century weather boarded boat house which nestle around the harbour.
Broadstairs other major industry was Smuggling!
Daniel Defoe noted that, of the 300 habitants, 27
were fishermen & the others had no visible means of
support. Barnaby's Lodge was just one of
those cottages used by the smugglers. The beauty of
Broadstairs is not only stunning beaches, but a vast
mixture of shops, galleries, museums, & shows.
An excellent selection of pubs, restaurants, bistros & take aways you
can experience; Italian, Mexican, Indian, Thai, Chinese, or traditional
English food all within easy distance from your choice of
accommodation.
If shopping is your pleasure, drive out to the new shopping centre at
Westwood Cross, just five minutes away, where you will find the large
department stores, or visit Historical Canterbury which is only 30
minutes away by car or train. The town is served well by bus, road &
rail.

Winding your way through beaches, historic villages to where the

The charm & heritage of Broadstairs has captivated generations of visitors, with popular events which are celebrated with great enthusiasm such as Dickens Week.
A colourful array of characters in period costumes re-enact the old days & bring history alive by one of England’s greatest writers Charles Dickens.
Another example is Folk Week, where the whole town comes alive &
bursts into music, dancing, & torchlight parades, bringing visitors from
all over the world. Folk Week celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2005.
Other attractions also include: Water Gala, Air Show, Sailing Regatta,
Horse Shows, Beer & Food Festivals, Power Boat Show plus so much
more, something for the whole family, whatever your age.
Relax & enjoy the view of the harbour, from the Bandstand with live
music where you can see the fishermen setting off to make their living
on the high seas of the English Channel.
