Today still, Bergen attracts many art lovers and practitioners. On Thursday nights in the summer, they sell their work on the artistic market around the Ruïne church. And in October, all Bergen residents open their doors to show their art during the famous Kunsttiendaagse (Ten Days of Art).

When visiting Enkhuizen one can experience the life in a historic Dutch fishermen’s town. . At the Zuiderzeemuseum there, a historical fisherman’s village, consisting of antique buildings such as a smoke-house, dwellings and shops, can be visited.
Amsterdam is easy to reach. From Alkmaar, every fifteen minutes a train departs which takes you in only forty minutes to Amsterdam Central Station.
