Situated just 3' from shore, on the all day SUNNY SIDE and widest portion of UPPER Mousam Lake, this 1893 Victorian styled cottage offers privacy and ambiance. Being the oldest (116 years) of the original Meader GAR Camps, there is much history still to be felt or found. There is gradual sloping, clear & sandy bottom, private swimming as well as canoeing, fishing (small & large mouth bass, stocked salmon, and trout/togue), walking, golf and biking. Located 2 hours from Boston and only 40 minutes from the coastal beaches of Ogunquit and Kennebunkport or the White Mountains of NH, there is much to enjoy. Cottage wise the first floor (lake level) has a large fully equipped kitchen with a substantial dining area. Along the water-front portion is a wide open large, 2 couched (double sofa bed), living room, parlor plus the private master bedroom (double). The second floor has an additional master bedroom (2 doubles) plus a 3rd bedroom with 2 twins. Outside? Hardscaped and landscaped

Location: Southern Coast of Maine < Maine < USA

Nearest Airport: Portland at 40 Miles
Nearest Beach: Ogunquit & Wells at 25 Miles
Car: recommended
Swimming, fishing, canoeing, trail walking, golf and biking. For those so inclined we have available a 14' 15HP fishing/touring power boat for rent by the day or week. Some folks ask, 'dock?' Yes we have a dock for your boat if you are so inclined. There is also a country store w/gas on the lake shore making 'fill it up's' easy as well as the purchase of permits, supplies, groceries, liquor, and dinner. Although Mousam Lake is a 7 mile long, quiet serene lake, at least from Sunday PM to Friday afternoon, there is waterskiing/skerfing, tubing etc all week. It's sort of like quiet when you want/expect it to be quiet, but if you like action, expect 'popular', it'll fit that need as well on the lakes. We are 'halfway' between some of the best Factory Outlets of Freeport (LL Bean!) or Kittery, ME and North Conway, NH. By the way did you know L.L. Bean is open 24/7/365? You may find 'antiquing' inland to be more productive than doing it on the coast of Maine.

    Holiday weekends like Memorial, Labor and Columbus Day are 'negotiable' depending on availability and size group.

    Being a '3 season cottage' we apologize for NOT being available during the long Maine winters!
  • These rates are for 'up to 10' people. We charge an additional $150/pp for the over 10, and UP to 12...our maximum permitted.

Whatever might I type here?: There is a 4th bedroom/loft with 2 twins as well. The nicely landscaped yard is huge and includes a 12' picnic table, yard furniture, a deck plus a gas barbecue grill. On the 'other side' we have just completed a lovely hardscaped multi-terraced patio and 'pined' fire pit area. As the seasons change try to imagine the benefits of visiting us during one of our Spring or Fall weeks or weekends and at a discount to the norm.
