A twenty foot deck, with a screened porch at one end, faces the lake, which is less than 30 feet away. Sliding glass doors open out to the deck from the large living room, with fieldstone fireplace.
In the main cottage there is a master bedroom with a king-sized bed. Another bedroom has two twin beds, and also has a loft, that children ages about 7 to 14 love. It's reached by a ladder, and is a great private space. The third bedroom in the cabin has one twin, and twin-sized bunk beds. The outbuilding, with its own little deck, also has twin beds. The maximum sleeping space on beds is 9. However, a total of 6 people is a more comfortable number for the cottage.
One third of the shoreline is in conservation land, and much of the rest is still undeveloped, so it is quiet, and the water is crystal clear. Theater and concerts in Peterborough, free concerts at Apple Hill and Monadnock Music are just a few of the wonderful cultural events in the area.
Children love the Friendly Farm just down the road. Harrisville Designs offers weaving and other classes. The Sharon Art Center also offers classes. From the top of Mt. Monadnock, a 2-3 hr. climb (see picture taken on way up in photos), you can see the sky scrapers of Boston!
