Detached Barn conversion with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, close to sea.

The Granite Barn is a beautiful farm building which have been converted to the highest standards. It forms the focus of a traditional small farm, (Little Goonreeve Farm) which has hardly changed since the 1950’s.

The Barn sleeps up to six in three separate bedrooms. The living area is upstairs to take advantage of the double height space and views. The large space has a seperate dining area and a fully equiped chef's kitchen. Ideal for entertaining.

The master bedroom has a king size bed and an ensuite bathroom. The second and third bedrooms have either king size double beds or 2 single beds each. The luxurious family bathroom gives a welcome sanctuary.

There is a private garden and open access to 20 acres of beautiful farmland.

Little Goonreeve farm is on the Mylor peninsular between Falmouth and Truro in an area of rich farming country with rolling green grazing pasture. We are well placed to enjoy the amazing attractions which Cornwall has to offer.

Our farm is nestled in the Mylor downs, within the rich rolling hills of the Mylor peninsular, bordering on the stunning coastline 'The Carrick Roads' which provides some of the best sailing and water sports in the country. The location is rural but placed within a short drive (5 miles) of Falmouth or Truro with interesting shopping, cafes, cinemas and local amenities. Its an ideal Mid Cornwall base for visits to the usual attractions of the Eden Project, surfing beaches on the North coast, and the wilds of the Lizerd Peninsular and further west to St Agnes and Zenna. Close by is the famous waterside Pandora Pub (our local) and Mylor Yacht harbor.

Visitors are free to wander in the 20 acres of rich grazing land with abundant hedges which provide an ideal habitat for local wildlife.

Freerange Beef, pork, eggs and organic vegetables are available from the farm and we are keen to promote the providence of British food. Visitors are welcome to participate in any farm activities, such as feeding, as little or as much as they want or just relax and unwind in your rural home. It's up to you.

The Granite Barn sleeps 6. The bedrooms are located on the ground floor to allow for open plan living on the first floor and to take advantage of the views across country side. The sunny master bedroom has a kingsize bed and enjoys views out onto the south facing garden. It has a Travatine tiled ensuite bathroom with a generous shower. The bedroom benefits from a built in cupboard and storage area.

The second bedroom comprises of zip and link beds that can be made up as a super king size bed or two 3 three foot six wide single beds. The room faces west and looks out onto the farm yard. There are chest of drawers and clothes hanging facilities.

The third bed room also has zip and link beds, making a super king or twin single beds. There are chest of drawers and a wardrobe.

The spacious bathroom is situated on the ground floor and comprises of an integrated shower and bath that boasts an outstanding showering experience as well as a superior bath.

The living area is made up of the whole upper floor of the barn. The area is divided by an oak staircase that leads up from the entrance hall. One side of the open plan room allows for the sitting area. It is bathed in sunshine and takes advantage of the views over the farm and away to the hills to the west. There is a new generation log burner that triple burns the wood to provide maximum heat output but is also economic on the quantity of wood needed. (A complimentary basket full of logs is provided on arrival). There is a digital television with free sat.

The dining area is situated on the other side of the staircase. An six setting dining table enables spacious dining while enjoying the views out of the French windows to the garden below. This area too is sunny and light.

The well equipped kitchen is set off the dining area in a separate but accessible room. Here you will find a 90cm dual fuel cooking theatre in a well set out kitchen with slate work surfaces. Included in the kitchen are an integrated dish washer, washing machine, fridge and freezer.

About James Davis or Fleur Davis

Fleur James William and Madelene moved to Little Goonreeve Farm in 2007. Fleur grew up in the farm down the hill from us (Barras Moor Farm) with her 3 sisters. We spent the early years of our married life in Middlesex trying to work out how we could manage a move to Cornwall and took the plunge when our eldest ,William, was about to start secondary school.

Why James Davis or Fleur Davis chose Mylor Bridge

We knew and loved the area so the problem was to find a house. It took us a year and we ended up in almost the first one we ever saw which Fleur remembered from her youth. It was in a sorry state but with a lot of hard work we have stripped back and rebuilt four separate dwellings.

What makes this barn unique

We were attracted to Little Goonreeve Farm because it had changed little since the 1950's when the Milking Parlour in the middle of the yard was built. One of our aims of the restoration was to keep the essence of a small working farm.

As a family we also care about the providence of food and have benefited from the rearing of livestock in a low intensive environment.

We love our farm and aim to pass that onto our guests.

We also realise that people have worked hard for their holiday and everyone enjoys a bit of luxury now and then.

A Great Spring Holiday

The Granite Barn is a great place to take a family holiday. Fleur & James were very friendly and welcoming, and the farm is a super location for anyone with children.
The property is just as we had expected from the website: very clean, well equipped and tastefully & comfortably furnished, with a pretty little garden and patio for eating al-fresco.
The area has lots to offer on the doorstep too. Wonderfully wild and quiet beaches and walks, excellent sailing and water sports facilities. For wet days there's a great climbing centre, cinema and fun swimming pool, all within 15 minutes of the house.
We had a great holiday and would definitely return.

We stayed in the neighbouring property (The Old Farm Cottage) for 2 weeks in the Summer Holiday and had our best holiday yet in Cornwall. Fleur and her family were very welcoming - we arrived at the cottage and found a welcome pack with warm (freshly baked) lemon drizzle cake, tea, milk, biscuits, coffee and so on. Fleur had also unpacked our grocery order from Baileys food store (which the family has recommended) and put everything into the fridge/cupboards etc. The cottage was spotless, comfortable and finished to a high standard. Fleur was both a helpful guide to the farm (she immediately took our young children on a tour of the animals and tree swings), and the local area - excellent recommendations for beaches, foody pubs, days out with children, etc. We could not have had a better start to our holiday. I was very surprised to read the review below - it absolutely does not reflect the experience we had during out stay. Many thanks to Fleur and James for what was a wonderful relaxing holiday for 2 busy parents, with 2 very busy boys.

On arrival we were surprised how nice and rural the barn was, it was what we were hoping for, but unfortunately we were disappointed with the welcoming pack which only included a costcutter carrot cake tea and milk. The barn itself was nice but lacking some colour which made it feel cold, also there was a lack of privacy due to the fact that there were no curtains. There was no microwave, which could be a problem for some people and the tv/freeview had a lack of channels and was also small.
We had inquired about a birthday cake for my husband's 50th birthday as it was in the week we were there and we were disappointed that we did not receive it for the day.
We feel that the barn did not justify the price we had paid.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry to hear your stay at Little Goonreeve Farm was not to your liking. We meet all our guests during their stay and I remember meeting your husband while dog walking in the fields and he never mentioned any of your concerns.

It's a shame that you found your Cornish welcome pack disappointing. We take great care to source all our products locally. The cake was hand made by Lucy of Mylor and the other items have been chosen to give a taste of what Cornwall has to offer.

The interior design is based on a traditional Cornish barn with a with exposed granite feature walls and warm insulated white walls.

All our bedrooms have curtains and the upstairs living area is lucky enough not to be overlooked by any other buildings.

We are also genuinely puzzled about the birthday cake. If you had instructed us to order one for you we would have been happy to do so.

We do our best to make sure that all our guests have a lovely stay at Little Goonreeve Farm and have taken all your comments on board .

We stayed at the barn for my Mum's 60th birthday weekend as it made an excellent base to visit our favourite places in Cornwall. The barn was as lovely if not better than the pictures, it was clean and tidy and the renovations had clearly been finished to a very high standard. The complementry logs and essentials were fab and really helped us to start our weekend without a worry. James and Fleur were very accomodating and the communication was great, my sisters and I especially enjoyed the various animals and we were welcomed to go and meet them.
The bedrooms were lovely and the beds were sooo comfy and the showers are amazing, we were sad to leave and will definatly reccomend it to friends and hope to return ourselves in the future!

The Granite Barn is part of a traditional 'old style' farmyard. There is another granite farm building (The Old Farm Cottage) which is available and sleeps 4. They are ideally placed to experiance the best that Cornwall has to offer. We are situated on the rolling green hills of the Mylor downs equidistant between the historic town of Falmouth and Truro.The safe family beaches of the south coast are close (3 Miles) and the more wilder surfing beaches of the North coast are a short drive away. (9 miles). Learn to sail from Mylor Sailing school or just hire a canoe and Paddle to our local pub. The famous waterside 'Pandora Inn' overlooking the beautiful Restronguet Creek and the Carrick Roads. There are a wealth of beaches, creeks and stunning scenery to explore. The beaches of Gyllynvase and Maenporth are local. Pendower and Rosevine are short ferry ride to the Roseland Peninsular. Keep an eye on the weather. When the 'surfs up' go to Perranporth, Fistral or Gwithian beaches for surfing. These are just a fraction of possibilities. Cycle the Bisso or the Camel bike trail. Have Fish and chips at Rick Steins in Padstow or Falmouth. Visit the gardens of Trellisic, Glendurgan,Trebah or Heligan. Go to the Maritime Museum in Falmouth after the Oyster festival. Go to a 'gig' in a multitude of places including Miss Peapods (our local venue for live music). There is plenty to do to suit a variety of tastes and interests. Or just sit back and relax back at the Farm. It's your holiday.
