There is an attractive BBQ area by the pond and garden furniture is provided. The garden is secluded, and fenced in. Behind the house is a large gravelled parking area for up to 3 cars.

The Old Sheephouse is situated in a secluded spot in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers all the attractions of the Cotswolds. Perfect for those seeking an idyllic rural retreat away from it all, with wonderful unspoilt walks on your doorstep. A peaceful 1.5 km walk will bring you into Barnsley Village with the chic Barnsley House Hotel and renowned Village Pub, with its great cuisine and famous clientèle. The Cottage is located just 7 minutes from the fashionable Roman town of Cirencester with its fantastic restaurants, shops and boutiques, Roman sights, golf courses and Cirencester Polo Club. The Cotswold Leisure Centre has great gym and fitness facilities and a large modern swimming pool. Nearby the Cotswold Water Park offers a huge variety of watersports and activities.

Other towns within a 20 minute drive include Lechlade, Bibury and Tetbury, charming traditional Cotswold towns offering antiques, small boutiques, cafes, pubs, great restaurants and even trout fishing. Cheltenham Is close by with its elegant shops, racecourse and Literary Festival, and there is a dry ski slope in Gloucester just 20 miles away. Why not visit the Cotwold Wildlife Park at Slimbridge on your way back? Or for a fun day out, visit Bristol, home of Brunel’s SS Great Britain and the Clifton Suspension Bridge, with its great Science museum, zoo and botanical gardens, not to mention excellent shopping. A trip to the Unesco World Heritage sites of Oxford or Bath is a must, to experience the dreaming spires of Oxford or to lose yourself in the Georgian splendor of Bath, with its Roman thermal baths, elegant shops and theatre. The world famous equestrian events of Badminton Horse Trials, Gatcombe Horse Trials and Cheltenham Gold Cup are all within easy reach. Famous gardens close by include the legendary Rosemary Verey's garden at Barnsley House, snowdrops in February at Colesbourne and Painswick Rococco Gardens, tulips in April at Cerney House gardens. The fritillary fields at Cricklade are well worth a visit around Easter, as is Westonbirt Arboretum particularly in October with the autumn colours.

The nearest train station is Kemble which is 15 minutes away and the nearest international airport is Heathrow. London is an hour and a half away by car or 55minutes by train.

Perfect place

  • 5 of 5
The pshotos don't make justice to the real beauty of this house. We fell in love for it inmediately, even the two children (not very efusive usually) were enthusiatic about it. It was perfectly clean, tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. A lot of space. Beautiful garden. 10 minutes to Cirencester's Waitrose and Tesco groceries. Perfect. We can't wait to go there again. Hopefully soon...Fiona was more than helpful with information about everything, unfortunately we had to go the the Hospital, but hadn't been for Fionna's indications we would have been lost, hopefully you won't need it, but Cirencester's Hospital staff was really nice and helpful. If there is any question Fionna is always ready to answer or help. We went to a great place for lunch in Stroud in front of the weekly market following her advice and were pleasantly surprised. Thank you for everything.

Tranquility within reach of tourist attractions

  • 5 of 5
The Old Sheephouse is a delightful, roomy cottage, located on a quiet road, but within reach of local attractive Cotswold towns and villages. It's location is ideal for those who wish to either relax in the house or garden or spend their time sightseeing. The property is clean, comfortable, well equipped and in excellent decorative order. The wood burning stove made it particularly cosy. The local pub is only a five minute car ride away.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to families or couples. We were made more than welcome and look forward to returning there soon.

Cotswold Perfect

  • 5 of 5
We rented the Cottage for a week in early August and found the Cottage to be equipped with everything we needed, including guide books and maps. The location was great - right in the middle of everything you want to see in the Cotswold region. Old Sheephouse Lane is ideal for a morning run or walk to start your day. The garden is delightful for an evening barbeque. You can buy all of your supplies, and good wine, at the local Waitrose grocery store. To top it all off, we had the fortune to meet FIonna who gave us all kinds of valuable tips to make our stay perfect. We highly recommend a stay at the Old Sheephouse. Paul and Michelle

Wonderful cottage

  • 5 of 5
This is a very lovely cottage. It met our needs perfectly. The facilities are first-class: a nice combination of modernity and tradition. Very clean and well-maintained. The owner, Fionna, was extremely helpful and accommodating as we used the cottage to host a small post-wedding party. We would love to return sometime and have no hesitation in recommending it.

The right house in the right place

  • 5 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay. Everything went very well and it was as described. The cottage is located in a very quiet and green area, but so close to all the wonderful locations of the Cotsworld.
The house is great, full of space and all the equipment you need is available. Furthermore the owner was always available in case of any request.
We also appreciated the amount of information available in order to find what is going on in the area, really useful.
We would definitely recommend this property.
