We are Ali, Rich and Chloe Jane Light. We moved to Siesta Key in 1997 and have never looked back. We absolutely love living here and sharing our paradise with our guests. We have been renting our six cosy bungalows since 1998. Ali is an artist and has drawn inspiration for colors and design of our bungalows from our travels to Hawaii, Ireland, and the British Virgin Islands. Rich was a custom design home builder and landlord for many years in the Philadelphia region, so together we have found the perfect match for having beach rentals.
Ali and Rich Light purchased this cottage in 1998
When we moved to Siesta Key in 1997 we knew that we wanted to be able to share this gorgeous area with others and having rentals seemed to be the perfect way.
The unique benefit of staying at our properties are the ability to walk right to the beach and village, or we provide bicycles so you can explore the island. We are always available and live just a few doors away from most of our places. We are always excited to share our favorite places and restaurants so even our single guests feel like they have family here.
My husband and I just spent a week at the Fern Haven Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The studio cottage was clean, well-stocked with all you could need, and perfect for a couple, with a beautiful lush patio for grilling or enjoying breakfast to the sounds of the birds chirping. We thought we'd have preferred something closer to the beach but ended up really enjoying this location along the canal, especially since we could jump in the provided kayak in the morning for a row. At the same time, it was still a short walk to the beach, restaurants, and a grocery store. Rich was great. He greeted us to show us around the place, made great restaurant suggestions, and made us feel at home from the start.
I just returned from a 3 week stay at Canal Place. The weather was wonderful, the cottage very comfortable and appointed with everything you could ever imagine. The beautiful Siesta Key Beach is a 7 minute walk although I did drive over sometimes in the 5-7Pm hour just because I was lazy and wanted to maximize the quiet time on the beach to read.
There is a kayak out the front door and 3 bikes in the back. It's a 7 minute walk in a different direction to the hardware store, grocery/wine store, shops and all of the restaurants. It is a very safe and populated neighborhood but you might want a flashlight if you are walking home after dark.
Ali and Rich could not be nicer and more helpful. Book early, these cottage go fast.
"Cold in Buffalo"
We stayed at Siesta Bungalows for 3 months in the Garden Terrace. If our future travel plans include Florida we will certainly rent it again. We stayed in the attractive Garden Terrace studio. For some it might on the small side but having spent many previous lengthy vacations in our Airstream trailer we were quite comfortable. We travel with our dog, a golden-doodle, the garden area around the studio was perfect for her and us for our lounging in the deck chairs provided. We also found that there was the 75 acre Red Bug Slough Preserve a 15 minute drive away for our daily longer walk for our dog.
The Garden Terrace is located in a very quiet and attractive neighborhood with no high rise condos or other buildings. Being situated 5 minutes to the beach or Siesta Key Village is a real plus. The local general store carries all the basics. Then there are the many restaurants and busting activity of the Village itself and 15 minutes away the many offerings of Sarasota.
Rich was a conscientious and helpful host. He would stop by a couple times a month to see if things were okay and for a brief chat. He was not at all intrusive and had various suggestions regarding places to visit in the area. His description of the Terrace and area when we inquired about the rental was accurate.
I stayed at the Fern Haven unit during December 2013 and found it was ideal for myself. The unit was very clean; quiet & fully supplied with dishes; silverware; pots/pans, etc.. Just bring your clothes and personal things and enjoy the sun.
The owner was excellent in answering any questions promptly.
This is a review of "Lily Patch," a charming bungalow where my family and I spent the month of October 2013. The vintage cypress-wood Florida bungalow has been beautifully maintained inside and out. It is located on a large corner lot in a quiet residential neighborhood just a short walk from the white sands of Siesta Beach, or from the shops and dining of Siesta Key village. The outstanding feature of "Lily Patch" is the large screened lanai which runs along one side of the house and is accessed by double French doors from the interior. We spent much of our time here, enjoying the lovely lawn plantings and the song of mockingbirds and doves. The rooms in the bungalow are spacious and the furniture is comfortable. The central air conditioning works really well, and each room has a ceiling fan. An outside shower is useful for washing off beach sand after a swim. The large kitchen is well equipped with all necessary appliances. All in all, we consider "Lily Patch" a gem of a property in a special place, and we definitely will return.
On the beautiful Siesta Key, Palm Island bungalows are a premium. I could hear the surf from this property, as well as the bells from St. boniface church. Just 2 short blocks from the gorgeous beach, and a perfect stroll to the village for dining at any one of many restaurants, the location means much in season when parking is a premium on the island. This bungalow is in a lush setting with exotic tropical landscaping. Cozy outfitting for the interior. The neighborhood is a safe one and is visitor and dog friendly. Owner is most helpful with recommendations and accommodations
