Disappointing and Misleading

Quaint town and setting, BUT! The home has not been maintained and some aspect are in poor repair. The "safety" railing on the stairs has been intentionally loosened and comes off in your hands - one of our party fell as a result (left the railing off the rest of our visit to protect family members). House advertised as having 7 bedrooms but only has 5. Photos of kitchen don't show missing doors, missing handles, broken handles, etc, that are the standard. Master bedroom's bathroom doorknob doesn't open from inside - better bring a phone to call someone to let you out! Dining room chairs wobbly and collapse when sat upon. Toilets regularly don't flush and overflow. Ants swarmed in upper bath. Coffee makers basically useless. We stayed in winter - Upstairs bedrooms seem to have no heat - box fans provided to "blow" warm air in from downstairs. Basement "bedrooms" (actually one bedroom and other beds are in common area and laundry area) sweltering.
Garage listed as "amenity" but completely full of owner's car and furnishings. Pricing drastically different from advertised rate. Rent at your own risk! Our family enjoyed ourselves and even made some repairs (chairs) during the visit. Great for casual family gatherings and "working" :) vacations.
Owner's Response: MY LAPSE OF JUDGEMENT... If these issues were brought to my attention I would have addressed them immediately. No doors? There are pocket doors. Concerning the stairway, there is an in place safety handle on the left side of the stairway. Why is she holding on to the decorative spindles when there is a safety rail in place? Toilet not flushing? never 1 complaint in 7 years ... Luckily, they are not my typical guests I have been privileged during the last 7+years to rent to. Hundreds of people have enjoyed my home and many have returned year after year with glowing remarks. I received an email from Becci the 3rd night requesting a plunger. I responded by email and phone with no response. After they left I received an email from Becci with a laundry list of complaints that did not exist. She said she was disappointed with the condition of the home and demanded I include an additional $50 per night, plus her security deposit. She said the site stated that the rent was $350 per night. I kindly said that the site actually states "STARTING" at $350 per night, and with the 15+ guests arriving, the amount is correct. I'm truly sorry that I have to write my first review in a negative response. We have since sent back her security deposit on time. This is just one traveler’s opinion, please continue on and read the many other positive reviews. Thank you.
