Close to the Angus Glens, there are plenty of outdoor pursuits with the annual walking festival in the summer a favourite. There are five glens to explore, each with unique characteristics and besides the popular hill walking there are plenty of other activities on offer from game shooting and fishing to museums and cathedrals.
The village of Glamis is close by and is perhaps best known historically for its association with the William Shakespeare play MacBeth. It is a pretty village and is also known for the fairy-tale like Glamis Castle, where Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother spent much of her childhood. The castle and grounds are open to visitors and offer a relaxing day out.
