Located in the lower Salento, not far from Santa Maria di Leuca, is a popular seaside resort of the Ionian coast of Salento. The coast is characterized by low cliffs. The town grew up around the small harbor mainly in recent decades, driven by building tourism.

Torre Vado is one of many coastal watchtowers were built by Charles V in the sixteenth century to defend the land of Salento invasiononi by Saracen pirates.
