Comfortable furnished apartment in well-connected central location

Our apartment is ideally located both for arrivals from Schönefeld and for central Berlin. Bedroom 1 has a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, etc. The living room (which converts to Bedroom 2) has a coffee table, shelves, new flatscreen TV-DVD combo and a comfy full-size double bed sofa-bed. The full-size, fully equipped 'American' kitchen/dining room, has a fridge freezer, cooker, dining table and chairs. The clean modern bathroom, has a large curved shower cubicle and WC. All windows have modern double glazing. The apartment is on a quiet side street. There is plenty of free parking at the front and even a small residents car park in which spaces are available on a first-come-first served basis. From the back there are pretty views across gardens and allotments. All in all, this bright but modest apartment contains all you need for a comfortable stay. Best of all, you are just a short walk from S-Bahn Stations Sonnenallee and Köllnische Heide, with fast connections to all Berlin

NEUKÖLLN

Neukölln is the south-eastern district of Berlin, known as the US sector of the city during the Cold War. The district is fast becoming a popular district to live, with a great number of artists moving in, bringing with them a wonderfully relaxed, cosmopolitan atmosphere. The history of high-migration has meant that there is a large portion of European shops, cafes and restaurants, which have helped in making Neukölln one of the most up and coming districts in the whole of Berlin; ideal for a Berlin city break away from the bustle of the city centre.

THINGS TO DO

Neukölln is well known for its Turkish market, which happens every Tuesday and Friday. The market is the largest of any in Berlin, and makes for essential attendance when on any Berlin city break. On a cultural note, there is a long list of plays held at the Neukollner Opera, as well as operas.

Neukölln is also a fantastic place for shopping. The Karstadt Hermannplatz and Kindl-Boulevard Passage are both large shopping centres within Neukölln where you can buy almost anything that you could need during a self-catering holiday. The district is known for its specialty shops, which offer a staggering range of international fare.

PLACES TO VISIT FROM NEUKÖLLN

Berlin is an international destination of the highest quality. The long and often brutal history of the city means that there are a huge number of historic and cultural attractions throughout the city centre, including the iconic Brandenburg Gate, the beautiful Berlin Cathedral and the historic Checkpoint Charlie. All these monuments, in and around the Berlin-Mitte district, are easy to reach from a self catering Neukölln holiday home.

WEATHER

Whatever time of year you decide to visit Berlin, you will not be the only one! Berlin is a year-round destination, with warm, dry summers lasting from May until September, and crisp, cold winters that seem to bring out the beautiful best in Berlin’s many monuments. The Christmas markets in December are a real joy to explore, and Berlin accommodation is in very high demand during this period.

TRAVEL TO NEUKÖLLN

Berlin’s Schonefeld Airport (SXF) is the closest of Berlin’s airports to a holiday rental in Neukölln. There are a huge number of daily flights arriving into Schonefeld from airports across the UK. There are also plentiful hire car facilities available in the airport, as well as train and U-Bahn links throughout the city.

WISH THERE HAD BEEN TIME TO STAY LONGER

Spent a most enjoyable three night stay in this bright attractive apartment which has been thoughtfully furnished with great attention to detail. It was my first visit to
Berlin and,having been supplied with a map of the vicinity by the owner, found it very easy to find my way around the city on the local transport.
Would recommend the accommodation most highly, and cannot wait to return.

Warm and Clean

Recently a friend and I spent 14 days in Simon Wickham's Neu Köln flat.
We were very pleased with our stay. The flat was easy to find and was warm and clean.
All the appliances worked and the shower was fantastic, I really like it when the shower is perfect.
After sight seeing all day we rushed home to sit in the cosy kitchen and just enjoy being there. We used the nearby shopping arcade for low price shopping, very good. We were in Berlin in January so the flat being warm and comfortable was essential. Highly recommendable! Birgitta Johansson

Gute Tage in schöner, praktischer Wohnung

Diese Wohnung war genau das Richtige für uns. Die Betten waren gut. Ja, und auch die Küche; nicht nur war alles da was man zum Essen zubereiten braucht bis zu den Schnapsgläsern; es war ein echt gemütlicher Raum. Fernsehen und DVD anschauen funktionierte. Das Badezimmer war wunderbar; es gab so viel Wasser in der Dusche wie man wollte und so warm wie man es wollte. So was ist wichtig für mich. Die ganze Wohnung war warm und hell. Wir fühlten uns wohl. Ich hab mich auch an der Aussicht erfreut. So viel grün.
Wir haben uns auch gefreut, dass man so ganz in der Nähe einkaufen konnte. Es gab wirklich fast alles was man so für den Tag braucht, sogar eine Post war da!
Ich will auf jeden Fall wieder kommen, sowieso weil mir Berlin gefällt, aber auch diese Wohnung war genau das ich erhofft hatte. Danke! Gisela Albrecht

Looking forward to our next visit!

I was delighted with this stylishly decorated, pristine apartment which also had excellent fixtures and fittings and plenty of good crockery, utensils etc. The outside of the block belied the inside of the apartment which was also well-placed for transport to both the airport and places of interest in Berlin. The property owner provided clear instructions and information about the apartment and was always most helpful. We were visiting Berlin to see the Christmas markets and were not disappointed. We found a fantastic restaurant near Hermanstrasses station (2 stops) and local shops are within a few minutes walk from the apartment. We look forward to visiting again.

A fantastic flat.

The flat was very comfortable, clean and stylish with a brilliant shower. It was close to the tube network and I was able to get into town very quickly, perfect for seeing the sights. Very satisfied with my stay!

As much of Berlin becomes increasingly sanitized and gentrified, visitors and residents who hanker for that slightly anarchic and subcultural Berlin of old, have been pushed out of Prenzl' Berg and Kreuzberg and into Neukölln, which has become the surprise hot location of Berlin. This cosmopolitan district is now the favoured hangout of local artists and alternative types. The streets are colourful and vibrant and (in common with all of Berlin) very friendly and safe to walk. For tourists Neukölln benefits greatly from being both centrally located (the apartment is by the S-Bahn Ring, which circles central Berlin), well-connected for both S- and U-Bahn and ideally located for easy access to Schönefeld airport (you can reach the apartment from the airport with just 7 stops on the S-Bahn S45). In Neukölln you have the picturesque Richardplatz, the Hof theatre and Perle Restaurant attached, and the trendy restaurants, bars and clubs of so-called 'Kreuzkölln'. But you are also just next door to the nightlife hotspot of Kreuzberg, just a short ride from the restaurants and spaces of Prenzlauer Berg and near to all the central tourist attractions of Alexanderplatz, Unter den Linden, the Brandenburg Gate, Potsdammer Platz, Tiergarten, Zoo and Kurfürstendamm..........................................................................

  • The MAIN BEDROOM has a Queen Size double bed (Bed 150x200cms/mattress 140x200cms ). There are two bedside tables, equipped with bedside lights. There is a full-size wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Rooms come equipped with bed linen and laundry basket. There is a large framed artwork on the wall. Colour of bedclothes and small accessories may vary from photo. A travel cot and high chair are available for parties with a baby/small child................................................................................................................. The 2ND BEDROOM IS ALSO THE LIVING ROOM. So there is a full size (very comfortable!) double bed sofa bed (BEDINGE 140x200cms) from IKEA, which has a proper mattress and folds down and becomes a normal double bed. When the sofabed is packed away, it becomes a comfortable sofa and the room becomes a living room once more. If you have any questions, please ask. Fortunately, the kitchen also has room for 4 people to sit and eat comfortably.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We only just bought this flat, and have already invested in repairs and buying things like a new mattress, sofa bed, TV/DVD, bedding, towels, kitchen equipment, and accessories, and removing old stuff. We believe the apartment, though small and basic, is now fine and comfortable. Some of the smaller items and accessories may have changed since the photos were taken. Please ask about anything that is very important to you .................................. The apartment is listed as 'First Floor' but the Ground Floor flat is 'raised (Hochparterre)’, so there are three short flights of stairs to reach the apartment. Therefore, this flat would not be suitable for people who can't manage stairs. Once inside, the apartment is all on one level. Although my family live in England, I am half German and wanted to have a holiday home in Berlin, so my wife and children can experience the delights of Berlin and pick up some German language and culture during their holidays.
