Lovely House, Great People!

We had a very enjoyable stay at this immaculate holiday rental.
The Location: The pictures do not do this place justice. The house is located in a courtyard, very quiet and peaceful though the small Olive production unit is here. Everything is well maintained and scrupulously swept; the buildings have recently undergone a complete restoration and, to the owners great credit, are beautifully done. The 'farm' is surrounded by Olive trees, oaks and lovely rolling countryside, great for walks right from the house without the need to drive first. In May the wildflowers were wonderful and there was a good variety of birds around.
The House: We were the first people to stay there. The owners were justifiably proud of the finish and facilities. There is a good, spacious kitchen (a better selection of saucepans would be helpful but this is such a small point and it was our opinion that the provision of such things would improve as the owners learned what their clients would like) All appliances and crockery etc were spotless. The sitting room is long and narrow with a wood burning fire, again very tastefully decorated. Three bedrooms and a great fully tiled bathroom in the master suite. All furnishings are of a high standard.
Outside a table and chairs were provided on the small sun porch. The internet works well!
The people: I cannot speak highly enough of Ana and her family. Though we suffered from a few language difficulties these people made us welcome at every turn. It was wet and chilly when we arrived and a fire was duly lit for us. We were offered a tour of the farm; when it was noted that I had hung a few items of laundry on a chair outside a clothesline was erected at the back and pegs delivered. NOTHING was too much trouble for Ana and her family and they are delightful people.
There is plenty to see using this villa as a base. The beaches north of Lisbon are accessible and do not miss the Caves near Fatima and the dinosaur footprints - these are both fascinating places as well as the castle at Tomar.
