Minocqua House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-10)

Look no further! We invite you to stay at our home, located on a large quiet Lake which is one of a four lake chain totaling over 1900 acres.

This property has woods on either side to ensure your privacy. The spacious yard is the perfect place for the kids to run and play or to unwind and relax in the hammock. The pier, with bench, juts out over the sandy bottom beach, where big and little fisherman alike will have fun catching a variety of fish, or take the rowboat out and try your luck elsewhere. The chain contains bluegill, sunfish, perch, crappie, small and large mouth bass, walleye, northern, and muskie.

This 2000 square feet home is surrounded by thousands of acres of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, which has some of the best ATV and snowmobile trails the northwoods has to offer. Both can be done right out of the large driveway! The forest also has many trails for hiking and biking. If you cross-country ski, there are many nearby trails or you can head out and tour the lake(s) and check out the islands.

For your indoor enjoyment, have fun challenging each other on the 7 foot game table, which includes pool, ping-pong and air hockey. A selection of DVD movies are provided that the kids and adults will enjoy watching together.

The screened sunroom, flanked by two new balconies, is the most popular spot in the house. Meals and hours of card games have been enjoyed there.

In the evening, gather around the large lakeside campfire ring for s'mores, star gazing and great conversation.

We keep our calender very up-to-date, so please refer to it for availability.

ADDITIONAL RENTAL INFORMATION:

*Special note to snowmobilers, if you choose to cancel your stay due to lack of snow, we will refund your money 100% only if the snowmobile trails are officially close for the duration of your scheduled stay.

Why The Owner chose Minocqua

It's away from the hustle and bustle of Minocqua which means peaceful and quiet surroundings with beautiful views of the lake, islands and the thick forested backdrop of the opposite shore.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We had a great time at your cottage the week of 7/18. Everything was just as we expected and as described in VRBO ad. The lake was great, nice and quiet compared to Round Lake. We enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boat which we used often. The cottage was comfortable; our two girls loved the lower level with games/movies/etc. The weather was a little cool and but we all skied -- some of us even wore a dry suit! We had two fawns visit us several times near the driveway; we loved all the wildlife – ducks, loons, etc."

Comfortable, Cozy, Private, Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5
Everything VRBO claimed in its listing was accurate; the property was clean and well-maintained. Todd (an owner) was readily available by phone/email to answer all questions and address all concerns before, during and after our vacation at the Pike Lake house. It has been a pleasure to work with him...good sense of humor, also.
We felt at home from the moment we drove onto the welcoming driveway and saw the building we would be living in for seven days and nights. It didn't hurt to catch a stunning glimpse of the lake on the right side of the house; it actually sealed the deal before we unlocked the back door. Todd and Pat's home was spacious enough to meet all of our needs, yet it hugged us with its warmth and coziness. The furniture was plentiful and comfortable. The layout of the kitchen and dining areas functioned well for us. We were seeking privacy for our vacation: the woods on three sides, and the gorgeous lake on the fourth, more than filled that desire. We left the property three times: once to drive to Minocqua (21 miles east) for groceries; once to drive along the scenic Rustic Road 144 after we dropped off our garbage at the Town Dump; and, last, to sadly drive back home.
We only turned the TV on three times: once to wince and see the Packers lose and twice to hear the late evening news. We spent our time: reading and/or just sitting in lawn chairs enjoying the awesome lake views; swinging on the bench swing by the lake's shore; taking naps in the hammock; catching fish from the pier; watching bald eagles soar over the lake; peeking out the kitchen windows at grouse or a group of deer walking a few feet away from the back door; feeding bread to two Black (Mallard) Ducks who repaid us by doing their private business on the pier; listening to and watching different kinds of birds darting between the trees and dodging falling leaves that day by day carpeted the sprawling front yard; laughing at the antics of several small red squirrels and amazed by the sight of silky, fluffy-tailed black squirrels; kayaking and drifting, drifting, drifting on the lake; watching the bats come out at dusk to skim over the surface of the water for a meal of bugs; and, under the hush of night and a multitude of sparkling stars, the final ritual of roasting marshmallows over the glowing coals in the fire pit. We feasted on nature...we absorbed the peacefulness at Pike Lake House...we felt blessed.
Thank you, Pat and Todd!

Yes, this place is that awesome!

  • 5 of 5
Before I booked the placed, I exchanged a number of emails with the owner (Todd). Todd was extremely responsive and answered every single one of my many questions with thoughtful and coherent replies. When we stepped into the cabin last week, we understood why this place had so many good reviews.

Before I proceed to gush about how great this place was, I do want to point out a few *very* minor drawbacks. After all, no place is perfect.
- Because of its remote location, there is no cleaning service. You are responsible for making sure the cabin is clean and orderly before you leave. This was a little worrisome when I booked the place but it really turned out to be a non-issue. The previous renters left the cabin clean and neat, and we did the same.
- Well water taste. I recommend bringing a Britta pitcher filter or brining bottled water if you're not used to drinking well water.

Here are just a few of the many positives of this cabin.
- When the temps were nice, we ate all of our meals on the screened porch. It offered great views of the lake without having to worry about any bugs.
- My kids had an awesome time playing air hockey and the adults had a great time playing in the basement.
- There are a ton of watercraft options. While we didn't use the canoe and paddle boat, we put the rowboat and the two kayaks to very good use. I rented an 8Hp motor from Minocqua Sports Rental and it was a perfect match on the rowboat for fishing and buzzing around the Pike Lake chain.
- The hammock and bench swing were wonderful to relax in while taking in the beautiful views of the lake.
- There's a nice little camp fire area where we had s'mores and enjoyed the evenings outside. Side note, they had lots of firewood that was provided at no extra charge.
- Aside from borrowing some of the many PFDs available in the garage, we didn't use any of the other many amenities available (e.g. grill, bicycles, lawn chairs, outdoor games, swim noodles, etc).
- Lots more, but I'm out of space to type.

Given the varied weather patterns, the fishing wasn't as productive as I had hoped for. But we still had some fun catches of 3 perch, 2 smallmouth bass, 3 pike, 2 walleye, and even a small tiger Muskie. I'm sure we would have caught lots more if the weather had been more cooperative.

This place really is as good as all the previous reviews indicate. If you decide to rent it, please take care of it because we want Todd and his family to keep renting it out for a long time to come!

Fishing Getaway

  • 5 of 5
Had a wonderful, relaxing 4 night stay. Cabin is as described and was very clean. The owner, Todd, was a pleasure to work with and very accommodating even as our plans changed last minute. The cabin has a beautiful view and way more amenities than we were able to use. Mosquitoes were nightmarish, which made the screened porch our favorite spot! Saw deer, eagles, ospreys and loons during our stay. My son and I enjoyed lots of fishing. The weather and fishing didn’t cooperate but we did manage to catch a variety including musky, walleye, smallmouth bass, crappie, perch and bluegill. Rented a boat through Good Nuff Boat Rentals and it was super convenient since it was dropped off and picked up on adjoining Round Lake (just have to be careful of all the submerged rocks). Had a good fish fry at Moosejaw Resort just down the road. Ran in to Minocqua one day (20 minutes away). We have rented several places in the Minocqua area the past few years and this was our favorite because of the cabin’s amenities, the overall value, the location on a good fishing lake, and the ease of working with the owner. Hope to return soon!

Owner's Response: Please note that the spring of 2014 was terrible for mosquitoes all over northern Wisconsin.

Peaceful Getaway

  • 5 of 5
My husband, son and I had the opportunity to stay at this wonderful cabin for three nights! The cabin is beautiful and the views are breathtaking over looking the lake. The pictures on the site really do not do it justice. The weather was gorgeous and the leaves were at their peak which made for great walks, canoeing and kayaking. With Minocqua being near by, additional walking trails were available as well as shopping and a cute little coffee shop. The owners are responsive and provide everything one would want. If you would like peace and quiet then this is the place to stay! Thank you so much for sharing your cabin.

Relaxing Get-Away in the North Woods

  • 4 of 5
We enjoyed our stay at your cabin. The location was great--quiet and secluded, but only 20 miles to busy Minocqua. The cabin was as described, had everything we could possibly want. We especially liked the screened porch, overlooking the beautiful lake. We enjoyed seeing the loons and also the deer that walked through the yard. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to get away from it all, but still wants the comforts of home.
