18TH CENTURY COACHHOUSE IN A COURTYARD SETTING

County Kilkenny Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, private garden

The Coach House is a meticulously renovated 18th century stable block nestled in the spectacular valley of the River Nore, one mile away from the beautiful village of Inistioge. We are registered with Failte Ireland and have been awarded 5 stars.

It is in a private & secluded courtyard setting, but with close access to plenty of local facilities in nearby Thomastown (3m) and Kilkenny (12m).

The property itself has been lovingly restored to the highest specifications with hand-crafted oak woodwork and natural stone throughout. Clean, light and spacious, it sleeps 8-10 people in two king-sized double bedrooms, a twin and a master bedroom with king-sized bed, an en suite bathroom and a balcony overlooking the valley. An extensively equipped kitchen, including a broad range of herbs and spices, opens out onto a breakfast patio which overlooks the private garden. There is a downstairs shower room, a utility room with a washer and drier, and a large conservatory that leads to the two vaulted downstairs bedrooms. Upstairs, the comfortably furnished sitting room has a wood burning stove and a selection of DVDs and Cds as well as satellite television and WIFI. All duvets, bed clothes and towels are inclusive, as are firewood and oil.

The local village of Inistioge is a delightfullly picturesque setting on the bank of the Nore with a number of traditional pubs, cafés and restaurants. It is the perfect location for hikes and country walks, especially in the grounds of the dazzling Woodstock Estate gardens.

Nearby Thomastown has an international reputation for its arts and crafts, boasting a variety of studios and workshops to visit, galleries and exhibitions, an artisan chocolatier, cafés and numerous pubs where one can unwind with a pint and some live music.

There are no less than four golf courses within 5-10 mile radius including the famous Mount Juliet Hotel where one can indulge in a spot of horse riding or fly fishing.

November 2013

We spent last weekend here and had a fantastic time. We were a family group comprised of 1 Granny, 2 couples and 3 small children! The general consensus was that this was one of the best houses we've ever stayed in. It's really large and beautifully finished. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are all a good size. There's 3 bathrooms, one with a fantastic bath! The kitchen is really well kitted out; we actually found everything we needed. There's a lovely sittingroom with stove which is big, and cosy. Martin was so welcoming and friendly. The kids loved the garden and the two extremely friendly dogs. We had a great weekend and would definately receommed the house.

Unique house with everything you need

  • 5 of 5
The coachhouse is amazing! We were a group of 4 adults and 3 children. The house had plenty of room for all of us. The bedrooms were wonderful and comfy, the bathrooms were very modern. The kitchen was fabulous. It was large enough we could all cook and eat together. There were wonderful staples available to use (salt, pepper, oil, spices).
Martin was wonderful and offered up new places to go.
The children loved the space to play. We enjoyed relaxing in front of the TV with some DVDs.
The coachhouse was a relaxing place to come home to after enjoying the Ireland countryside.
I would recommend the house to anyone and our kids are already asking when we can go back to Martin's!

Great weekend, great location

  • 4 of 5
Six of us stayed here for the bank holiday weekend in March. It is a beautiful house in a great location. Every home necessity is supplied and Martin is really friendly and could not be more helpful. There was a delicious chocolate cake waiting for us on arrival, got the stove going opened a bottle of wine and had a great evening. It is only a 5 min drive to the lovely village of Inistoige. There are beautiful walks and interesting sights, a great cafe and friendly locals we had a beautiful picnic near the river. We all had been to Kilkenny city before, but staying here showed us how beautiful the rest of the county is. There is so much to see and do, we had afternoon tea in Mount Juliet (highly recommended), woodstock gardens is really worth seeing. Martin recommended another village nearby but we will have to leave that for another weekend. Thanks for a great weekend.

Wonderful house, wonderful location.

  • 5 of 5
Sorry Martin, the previous review was completed by our son Josh (without our knowledge!) but he's given a review from a teenagers perspective ... and he obviously liked it a lot.
We really were unable to fault the house or the area. It has everything you'd need in a holiday home and all 7 of us would love to return - 3 generations of family stayed for the week. The beds are very comfortable, the house warm (and we had some cold weather that week), great log burner in the living room, showers all powerful and hot, great kitchen and well equiped.
Our 3 boys just loved the freedom and space outside. We'll certainly be coming back as it felt a real home from home.

The Farmhouse

  • 5 of 5
We couldn't have wished for a better house, for 7 of us (4 Adults and 3 Children) it was perfect. We had everything that we needed and it was very comfortable, the bedrooms were clean and warm and we all had good nights sleep. The area surrounding it was quiet and peaceful but not in complete solitude with some lovely landscape to look out upon in the morning from the master bedroom. Many cold evening were spent in the cozy living room with the wood burning stove to keep us warm and toasty, it was a very relaxing experience and felt like a home away from home. Martin, the owner was brilliant and very friendly,we only had one problem and it was sorted out instantly. He had a bike and a Go-Kart that appealed to the children and got them outside and running around instead of sitting playing computer games all day. The local town of Inistioge is very pretty and there is a lovely little cafe called the Circle of Friends which served excellent coffee and hot chocolate as well as a large number of cakes. it was well located and everything we needed was within 20 minutes drive. I would definitely recommend staying here to anybody I know and we hope to return sometime in the near future and would like to say thank you to Martin for letting us rent his wonderful house

Fantastic House!

  • 5 of 5
We vacationed with our 5 children and had an absolutely amazing time here! The house is clean, modern and provides plenty of space for everyone. Martin, the owner, is a wonderful host! We stayed at 3 different homes around Ireland on our vacation and his house was our favorite! We would highly recommend it and hope to be back some day.

The house is set on its own private grounds in a courtyard setting, 1 mile from the village of inistioge. Inistioge is a beautiful and historic village on the river Nore in South Kilkenny. Its special character has made it one of the most visited places in the South East of Ireland for many decades.Nestling in the Nore valley it offers some of the best scenery in the region particularly in the recently restored gardens of the Woodstock estate. There is lots to do and when you tire of river paths and woodland hikes you can choose to eat and drink in one of our excellent restaurants and pubs.

There are 4 golf courses within 5-10 miles radius, including the famous Mount Juliet.

The medieval city of Kilkenny is only 12 miles away, an historical and artistic centre.

The area is also famous for it's trout and salmon fishing.
