Opportunity:

HomeAway is seeking the company’s first in-house counsel to professionalize its legal department.  This position will report to the Chief Development Officer for the company who serves as the company’s general counsel, and will have direct responsibility for the company’s contracts, coordination of international intercompany transactions, coordination of international trademarks and protection of worldwide intellectual property, compliance with the company’s stock option plans and employment laws.  Supervises one staff attorney in the U.S., but will work with the company’s outside counsel in the U.S., Germany, France and England.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Minimum qualifications:

Law Degree > 7 years general corporate law experience

Expertise or understanding of:    contracts

Corporate filing requirements for privately held and publicly held businesses

Supervision of litigation

Intellectual Property including software, trademarks and copyrights

Proper documentation of intercompany agreements

Human Resource laws in the U.S, as well as Texas, Colorado, Virginia, California, and ability to get up to speed in other states as required.

Managing International law firms

Mergers and acquisition background

Insurance/Risk management background

Strong Pluses:    

    Fluency in French or German

    Experience in a multi national company
