When you think of Destin, Florida, the first you thing you think of is the beach. There’s no doubt Destin beaches are worth flying thousands of miles to see. But there are plenty of other things to do for a break from the waves. Whether you’re a single traveler exploring the Destin area for the first time, a couple on a romantic beach vacation, or a family looking for adventure, it's easy to stay busy. Of course, if all you want to do is lay back and relax in your Destin condo, that’s okay too!

Morgan’s Sports Complex

Bringing kids on your Destin vacation? Sports fans, young and old, may enjoy an afternoon or evening spent at Morgan’s Sports Complex, the largest recreational center in Florida. The complex has softball and soccer fields, plus a playground for the kiddos. Watch a game or start a game of your own if the field are empty. Big Kahuna’s Water Park

Everyone likes a good water park and Big Kahuna’s doesn’t disappoint. With a Lazy River, several slides and rides for the young ones, and the new Honolulu Half-pipe, you can spend all day here and still not have seen every attraction. Regular travelers to Destin should look into a season pass – a great way to save money! Hint: Pack a lunch or eat at home. Destin dining can get very pricey - especially at the parks.

Fishing

Destin is recognized as the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village.” Get in on that action with both saltwater and freshwater fishing. Anglers will think they have arrived in paradise. Not enough to hook you? How does fishing for marlin sound? Famous for its big blue marlin, that’s not all that you can catch in Destin. Keep an eye out for wahoo, mahi-mahi, grouper, snapper trout, and redfish – and more.

 

Golf

While on your Destin vacation, why not knock around some balls if you don’t especially feel like hitting the beach. Playing a few rounds of golf or practicing your line drive are excellent ways to enjoy Destin’s gorgeous weather. There are several golf courses in the area to check out: Emerald Bay Golf Course, The Golf Garden, Sandpiper Cove Golf Course or the Kelly Plantation Golf Course.

 

Shopping

When the going gets tough, sometimes it’s best for the tough to go shopping. You can find all sorts of shopping opportunities in the Destin area. Visit the Silver Sands Factory Outlets for discount prices on designer clothing, accessories, housewares, and more. Or visit the Market Shops at Sandestin to find high-end boutiques and the Destin Commons is outdoors and features a cinema and several cafes.
