I will be going here again!

Our 10 day stay was awesome! The north side of the house facing the beach is all windows, allowing for ocean views from anywhere in the kitchen and living room. The house is closer to the beach than any of the nearby houses, so it gave a feeling of seclusion, like you had the whole area to yourself. We cooked almost all of our meals on site and the kitchen was stocked with utensils, pans, storage containers, plates, cups and most important the coffee maker. There are fully stocked markets in Progresso or even three Walmarts in Merida to get groceries. We also did a lot of driving around (using maps instead of GPS... quite an adventure) we found 3 or 4 Cool Cenotes and Mayan ruins. We made a longer trip to the Uxmal ruins one day. Dzibilchaltun was a closer ruins, but Uxmal was definitely worth the extra drive! If you plan on visiting any Cenotes make sure to bring a snorkel mask or goggles, the water is crystal clear and it's a whole different experience under the water than just looking from the top. If you are looking for a peaceful, no obligation retreat without many tourists this is the place. Granted we were likely there in an off season, but we usually had hours of beach walking and she'll hunting to ourselves. If you need some touristy time Progresso was just 15-20 minutes away or Merida just under an hour away. We made many trips into both places, but then were able to come back "home" to our secluded retreat and relax. I would recommend eating a Ponchos in Merida if you do make it out of the house! Jose, the grounds keeper, was always nearby if you needed anything, but was also never intrusive. Carlos, the owner, was very responsive for any questions we had prior to and during the trip. If you think you might not be able to live without the internet/wifi... You should try it! We were apprehensive at first, but I really feel that was one of the reasons we were able to feel so relaxed. We brought a blue tooth speaker and some downloaded music and movies for entertainment when needed. If we had one regret, it would be that we should have learned a little Spanish before the trip. ( we knew absolutely none) it would have made things simpler in some cases, but we managed. If your looking for a relaxing time, off the beaten path, for an AWESOME price this is the place. We will be back!

Not what I wanted.

Rating Details: I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I can say nothing bad about the house, but it is not the one we put a deposit on. I need internet to run my business and this does not have it. I had to rent an office in Progreso to make it work. I would also not characterize it as "Modern Mayan." It is really the Fiesta Hotel North. Everything here looks as if it belongs in a Hotel. This is not bad, just different. The only thing I did not like was the size of the patio. It is really not sunny. In the summer, that would be good. In the winter, not good.

Incredible villa, magnificient spot and sweet ...

Rating Details: I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Incredible villa, magnificient spot and sweet family! The spot was awesome and the villa seriously incredible. The principal thing we loved is the family who stay close to the villa (guardian). We've been fishing, eating and chilling with them. For the new year they invite us to their local celebration. We were people and we all love our trip... You can take the local bus to go in Progreso (30 minutes). maybe 15 minutes by car or taxi. The only thing is...there was only one towel per couple (we did'nt know it), the internet does'nt really work (I was expected...maybe better without internet anyway. There was not enough fourch and stuff like that in the kitchen... but wathever it was awesome! +++ to the Osmaldo (Messi) family +++ The Quebecers
