Staying at Maison Azul

5 of 5
This is a beautiful home in the center of Merida. Tall ceilings and beautiful tiled floors are complimented with vintage armoires and seating. You can lounge in comfy couches in the library which is full of books including ones on Mexican design and cooking. Each room in the main house centers around the entry way and leads out to a lush interior courtyard. There is a covered porch where my family and I spent most of our time. Throughout the exterior, lights and fountains bring the space alive in the evenings. The well appointed kitchen has everything you need for making great meals. Bottled water and coffee maker are welcome amenities and the juicer led to some fine margaritas. Victoria comes into clean several days a week. Not sure we needed her there quite so often but she was very friendly. We ate at Apoala just down the street which was excellent. The owner supplied us with several emails giving us tips on places to eat, what fiestas were happening when...Really helpful for first time visitors like us. I would highly recommend Maison Azul to fellow visitors.

Beautiful Indoor-Outdoor Living at Casa de la Cruz!

5 of 5
The end of November was a beautiful time of year to stay in Merida, and staying at Casa de la Cruz made our family trip amazing! We arrived early in the morning and were greeted by Sylvia who kindly acclimated us to the house. We quickly learned that we would have plenty of room to spread out, an updated kitchen to cook in, and a beautiful outdoor patio area with a pool and hammocks to relax in. We loved the indoor-outdoor living feel at Casa de la Cruz, which made this casita very unique for us and is one of the things we liked best about our stay there! Even though cooler weather in Merida meant cooler water in the pool, we still enjoyed it at midday when the sun was directly out to warm us. We also loved the traditional art, pottery and other furnishings in the home, and it was in a perfect location for navigating the city by foot. We could leave the casita and in 5-20 minutes we could be at one of the city's parks where we found beautiful churches to explore, markets to buy fresh produce and benches to sit and take in the sights and sounds of the people living there. Around 8:00pm we found traditional music and dancing in one park which we enjoyed watching one night, as well as a Mayan ball game called Pok ta Pok, which we LOVED another night! Our stay in Merida was filled with taking in beautiful sights and meeting gracious people. It was absolutely lovely and we would highly recommend it!

Ocean or pool side

5 of 5
We spent four and a half weeks in the loft apartment at Club Roberto and weren't ready to leave. We enjoyed being able to choose whether we would sit by the lap-sized pool or in the sand by the ocean. As others have commented, it was a 15-minute walk into town to get groceries or to get to one of the numerous "gringo" operated restaurants but the local ex-pats quickly provided us with directions. For 8 pesos you can take the combi into Progresso (10 minute drive), a cruise ship port, and hit the supermarkets, banks and or simply saunter along the boardwalk and have lunch at one of the restaurants bordering the beach. The apartment was clean, well-maintained and any issues we had were quickly addressed by the property manager. We would recommend this property.
