Tulum Bohemian Charm

5 of 5
Four of us (two couples in our 40's) rented this house for five days in October. First a few notes about the house. The house is one of three on the property. There is one closer to the beach that we didn't get to see because it was occupied. The other was in the final stages of being constructed and is located behind this house (a little closer to the road). That said, the distance between the three houses is as much (or more) as the distance between houses on separate properties in Tulum. The advantage is that this is a great "compound" if you want to have a big family or friends event and need two or three houses. There is no downside in my opinion. We loved the "middle" position of this house. It is set back from the beach, yet has an unobstructed view of the beach (through some gorgeous palms). It feels really private - much more so than many houses in Tulum. The house itself has a wonderful "local" floorplan and style. Very "Gilligans Island". The livingroom and kitchen are small, but more than you need. The "half indoor" dining area was our favorite spot. Awesome rain or shine, and designed to handle either. The bedrooms are only accessible via an outside staircase, which might put some people off. It is a scramble if it is pouring, but we actually really enjoyed that feature (hence the "Bohemian" feeling). The rooftop deck is great, although it could use a little better lighting and some additional seating. Still, we hung out there several times. The property is immaculate as are the grounds. Each morning the ample sand between the house and the beach was meticulously raked by the gardener. Management was laid back yet very helpful. They arranged for what is arguably the best chef in Mexico to be our chef the entire time. Her name is Irma. Ask for her - you will be thrilled. Our traveling companions are professional (notable) chefs and they were both blown away by her cooking. We ended up hosting an impromptu party for seventeen of our friends who were down there with us (in different houses, for a birthday party), and Irma cooked a feast. Several others in the group were professional chefs and they all agreed that it was the best meal of the trip. They also agreed that our house was far better than the houses they were staying in. So not only do you have our recommendation, but you have seventeen others as well... It was a perfect trip, with perfect hosts (Katy is especially wonderful) and perfect food. It doesn't get any better than that.

great, relaxing tulum vacation

5 of 5
The picture with the 2 yellow beach chairs says it all. Tranquil beach front property with good area for snorkling and kayaking. House is big - we fit 3 families easily. Caretakers were helpful and very nice. About 10 minutes from "central" Tulum with a myriad of activities nearby. Great spot for a relaxing Mexican beach vacation.

Refreshing, Relaxing, Rejuvinated!!

5 of 5
This beautifully designed Private Residence offers more than home style casual living. It is luxury at its finest, located within a natural setting, has amazing views of the ocean, right off the large outdoor patio deck, the fresh ocean breeze and cabanas are plenty, along with sandy white beaches, gentle aqua blue waters, and privacy everywhere; where you are free to roam at your own pace, to soak in all the beauty. Casa Chic, has a large casual living room, dining room, full kitchen/bar set up, outdoor grilling. Large bedrooms and bathrooms with beautiful picture windows and screens that slides open to have fresh ocean breeze flow through entire home. The 'Hemingway' style with beautiful bed linens, netting, decor makes you feel you're truly in paradise. There's a wonderful and friendly staff on site to assist with any needs you may have. The meals prepared by in home chef are outstanding, fresh, and more than you could ask for at any 5-star restaurant. WiFi is offered throughout the home, full refrigerators, freezer, microwave, coffee/espresso machines, are at your fingertips. If you forget something, there's a convenient shopping store (Chedraui) to go to for groceries, beverages, cash, pharmacy, and everyday needs. There's plenty to do to whether soaking in rays, swimming, jogging, yoga, water sports, fishing, or just walking on the white powder beaches, to nearby quaint or upscale restaurants, shopping, and boutique hotels. Be sure to check out the wonderful restaurants they recommend, they're all fabulous!! One thing to keep in mind is, be sure your currency is in pesos. The smaller unique lifestyle in town may only take cash in pesos, and few credit cards. Overall, I couldn't get enough of this beautiful home, its location and beautiful natural surroundings, the wonderful staff, and exposed to diverse people, culture, cuisine, restaurants, unique shopping, beaches, weather, everything...it is all right there to explore and come back to, over and over. You won't want to go home!!
