As good as it looks! A fantastic location.

5 of 5
I almost thought it looked too good to be true when I was lucky enough to find Villa Escapar for a family reunion right after Christmas. It was just amazing. The location is to die for, the "secret" back road ( have Manuel call ahead) to SolimonBay reminded us of our Home, Greece, in the 1970s, when it was unspoiled by tourism, with one little shack on the beach for delicious fish tacos. That is a must! Our group ranged in age from 89 to 12 and everyone had a terrific time. Manuel and Luisa were like family and we hugged and kissed good bye sincerely sad to go. The home cooked meals were just that- homecooked and good. Tulum restauants were great, don't miss Hartwood and Posada Margarita. The owner is very reasonable and helpful and I already have my deposit back and it hasn't been thirty days. There is something for everyone at the villa and nearby. We brought our own paddleboards and kayaks and had a blast. Oh- and one minor medical emergency worked out absolutely perfectly with the hospital in Tulum. Very professional and quick. I would go back tomorrow to VIlla Escapar. It really is as good as, if not better than, the photos.

Wonderful place to escape for a week

5 of 5
In mid-November, 2014, my husband and I took our two adult sons, their respective wife and girlfriend, and our 18 month-old granddaughter to Mexico to stay at Tres Defines for a week. We have travelled to the Maya Riviera for the past 12 years and like to try new accommodations. Tres Delfines did not disappoint! The food and drinks waiting for us when we arrived were a welcomed treat. The size of the house, with four bedrooms and three separate bathrooms offered every couple privacy. When we spent time altogether, the upstairs veranda and the living room were spacious enough. Our housekeepers, Olivia and her husband Cristabol, were kind and helpful. They kept the house very clean. Most important to Olivia was that none of us got sick. She showed us where to shop and how to disinfect our fruits and vegetables. She made some wonderful meals as well. Several other people who oversee Tres Delfines introduced themselves on the first day. Some of them spoke fluent English. This was greatly appreciated on an evening when the water cistern ran dry. Not thirty minutes after a phone call to one of them, a truck arrived to replenish the tank; on a Sunday evening, no less! Also, Arul, the owner, was quick and most informative when responding to all our pre-vacation inquiries. For the most part, we had no trouble with Internet access; the service was typical for the area. Beach access is rocky (wear water walkers) but the water is shallow for quite a ways out so swimming is fun and delightful. Though there is much to do in the area, our favorite activity was hanging out at our own beach and eating Olivia’s cooking at night. Another reviewer objected to the fact that Olivia was in the house so much. She did, indeed, spend hours in the house every day, going about her business of cleaning and cooking. In addition to being a warm and lovely human being, she was unobtrusive and always accommodating. We welcomed her presence.

Incredible Stay at Casa de los Pelicanos!!!

5 of 5
Best vacation we've ever had. Beautiful home, very comfortable, airy, lots of privacy if that's your thing. Chucho & Chari, the caretakers/chefs, are incredibly sweet, friendly people. Very accomodating and wonderful cooks. Their delicious authentic cuisine was over-the-top good...everything very fresh. Incredible guacamole, salsa, cirvece (shrimp, bass & octopus), the best flan in the world (you have to request it), best hanbanero hot sauce es muy caliente but delicious. Weather was perfect everyday. Water is perfect temperature. Venture over to the laggo one day but don't swim in it...crocs!! But the views are spectacular. Sunrise and sunset from the roof. Fresh coconut from one of the trees on the property. I can't say enough good things about our trip and about the experience at the house. Venture into Tulum for a meal and some cerveza along the beach. Do a snorkel trip, the incredibly colorful reefs are only 1/2 mile from shore along the beach behind the house. Hundreds of fish, thousands of colorful corals, some turtles...just a great trip. we went with Luis from Tulum. The owner Alan knows him. Overall an incredibly fabulous stay. Easy to get around by calling the local taxi service. Cab driver's were all super nice.
