As good as it looks! A fantastic location.

5 of 5
I almost thought it looked too good to be true when I was lucky enough to find Villa Escapar for a family reunion right after Christmas. It was just amazing. The location is to die for, the "secret" back road ( have Manuel call ahead) to SolimonBay reminded us of our Home, Greece, in the 1970s, when it was unspoiled by tourism, with one little shack on the beach for delicious fish tacos. That is a must! Our group ranged in age from 89 to 12 and everyone had a terrific time. Manuel and Luisa were like family and we hugged and kissed good bye sincerely sad to go. The home cooked meals were just that- homecooked and good. Tulum restauants were great, don't miss Hartwood and Posada Margarita. The owner is very reasonable and helpful and I already have my deposit back and it hasn't been thirty days. There is something for everyone at the villa and nearby. We brought our own paddleboards and kayaks and had a blast. Oh- and one minor medical emergency worked out absolutely perfectly with the hospital in Tulum. Very professional and quick. I would go back tomorrow to VIlla Escapar. It really is as good as, if not better than, the photos.

Our perfect vacation

5 of 5
We had the most relaxing, beautiful vacation at Casa Mandala! The whole vibe of the Tankah Bay was just what we were looking for. So laid back, and not crowded. Our group of family and friends found plenty of activities...snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, walking etc.....and plenty of just relaxing on the beach....we hardly needed to leave the lovely villa. The villa was as beautiful as advertised and more. Beds were so comfortable and the views are amazing. My one small complaint is that there was not any snorkeling gear as advertised...luckily, several members of our party brought their own. Thanks to Maria and Jose for talking good care of us....especially fixing the satellite TV so we could watch our beloved Packers in the playoffs! If you're not up for renting a car...there are taxis a block or so away at the Pavo Real resort that can take you into to town or to nearby attractions. The complimentary dinner upon arrival was great after a long day of traveling. Highly recommended! A vacation of a lifetime.

WHO WOULD NOT LOVE THIS PLACE

4 of 5
This is our second stay at Casa de Las Palmas. We love this Casa for many reasons. It gives you the best of both worlds - e.g. feels like a home but many choices of places to eat on your doorstep.. The villas sits on the sand of the beach, yet is protected from beach walkers/view by a few wind breaking shrubs.. so it is discretely tucked away, yet a few steps weaving around the bushes, and you are in the ocean. Nothing better than waking for sunrise and going for a morning dip. The villas itself is very functional and the layout and design is lovely. There is an amazing top floor private terrace with a curved sofa and day bed where one could have a sundowner drinks party and watch the sunset over the mangroves/jungle. Both of the bedrooms upstairs are very nicely decorated, and the doubles face the balcony and the seaview - they interconnect from the balcony which is a bonus if one has children in one of those rooms. One of the doubles, also has two more single beds - not the most comfy but more to do with where they are positioned at the back of the room - having said that totally fine for children or less fussy adults!. Each room has a shower and loo. The downstairs is a lovely hang out space with sliding doors and leading to an outdoor veranda toward the ocean that has windows that concertina open when its not too windy. There is another day bed on the sand, a swing, a hammock a BBQ and then through the shrubs onto the main beach are sun loungers with shade and so on. What I also love about CDLP is the privacy. It is perfect for a family or a group of friends. The downstairs has a further double bedroom and another bathroom. The kitchen has all the equipment you would need to cook and prepare food. The location is another bonus. It is equal distance from the top of tulum beach and the bottom near the biosphere national park. This part of the water is particularly nice and there are 3 good places to eat on your door step. Le Zebra which is a lovely place to hang out all day chatting and eating. I can't think of any negatives except that the water pressure upstairs is not as good as downstairs. The internet also works very well. When you wake up you hear lovely birdsong and the sound of the ocean. There are two other casa's on this plot of land.. all very different but well organised so that each property has its own path to the beach and and privacy. We love CDLP and hope to return again and again.
