The most beautiful home on Tankah Bay!

5 of 5
We rented Villa Paloma for the month of March. We had never rented a vacation home in the past so we were somewhat hesitant. The homes owner lives in the USA and he was easy to reach for all my questions and was very responsive. The pictures give you an idea of what the home looks like and it was so funny to sit at the pool or on the beach and people walking by would stop and ask about the house and comment on its beauty and would say they were renting a home nearby for more money that wasn't nearly as luxurious. This made us feel as though we selected the right house. We loved the fact that the maintenance/pool guy lives on site. He locked the iron gates each night and opened them in the morning. He was busy cleaning the pool by 7:30 AM and keeps the grounds and the homes exterior maintenance meticulous . He was very sweet and we felt well taken care of. The cleaning lady comes every day and was a lovely women who does an excellent job. She knew my daughter was celebrating a birthday and used her own money to buy a birthday banner and decorated her room with the banner and fresh flowers. The staff at the house are so responsive and requests are answered immediately and repairs are made the same day. If a light bulb needs to be replaced it gets done. We opted to hire a chef service for 4 days a week while we were there and it was money well spent. We used Tulum Chef and Victoria cooked for us. Fabulous! Here are some additional things we liked about the homes location. A short walk down the road to two different PADI certified dive centers. My son and I did our open water dives with Tankah Divers and had one on one instruction. Amazing! There are several good places to eat right down the beach or road and they are walkable. Bring a flashlight for night walking on the beach. The town of Tulum with many shops and restaurants is an easy 5 minute drive. There is a freshwater cenote across the street that was beautiful and clean and refreshing. You can snorkel, scuba or rent kayaks. This is a must do if you are in the area and very inexpensive. They do rent snorkel equipment but we prefer to bring our own. Every day at Villa Paloma we used the kayaks at the house to go out in the Caribbean. We used our metal detector, walked the beach, collected shells, snorkeled in the ocean and swam in the pool. At night we would sit on the beach chairs with a cocktail and gaze at the blanket of stars above. We hope to return to this gorgeous home someday!

Family Vacation

5 of 5
My family and I recently stayed at Villa de Paz. It was my wife, with my 18yr old daughter and her friend, my 15yr old son and his friend, and my 10 year old son. Upon arrival the house and grounds from the outside are beautiful, the location is right on the beach, that includes a nice pool on the beach, it is about 15 feet to the sea, although I do not recommend swimming right off the beach in front of the house it is a bit rocky, beach shoes necessary. Inside, the house is a bit older and in need of some upgrades but overall I give it a 7 out of 10, it is spacious and comfortable and we had plenty of room. We ate all of our meals outside on the patio by the pool. Carlos the caretaker is great and cleans the house and beach everyday, he understands very little English but we had no trouble communicating, he also gets you cabs when needed. He arranged for us to have a chef prepare us breakfast and dinner 5 out of the 8 days we where there, Honorio and Maddie prepared exquisite meals, did all the shopping, we gave them the money prior, we had lobster, fajitas, fresh, salsa, and guacamole everyday, desserts, flan, pastry, it was top notch. I tipped them at the end of the week, they also served and cleaned up after every meal. It is very safe, we did lock up every night but we never felt unsafe. It was sunny and 85 everyday, with a nice ocean breeze, each bedroom has air-conditioning, but one did break in the small bedroom so we just had my son move in with his brother, no big deal. Casa Cenote is a great restaurant 2 properties down, as well as Blue Sky, Casa Cenote has a dive shop, we used them to Scuba Dive the freshwater Cenote right behind the house, great for snorkeling as well, you can also swim and snorkel in the ocean right in front of Casa Cenote. Lots to do locally, if you want to travel some. Susie the owner is very responsive and answered any and all of my questions. The only thing that caught us off guard was the inability to flush TP because of the fragile septic system, although it was not as big of deal as we first thought it would be. Overall it was paradise, I highly recommend staying at Villa de Paz!! Thanks you Susie!!

A Piece of Heaven with Angels

5 of 5
We just got home from 10 days at Casa Escocesa. We walked in and it was soooo much prettier than the pictures show. The warm breezes, the ocean waves, the space and probably what added to our joy and enjoyment were Elder and Elda, and their daughters Amzi and Abi. We got in after dark and part of our group was already there. We were given guacamole and salsa made by Elda and left over kabobs. It was delicious. What we learned in the days to come is how accommodating Elder and Elda were and they only goal was to make our 10 day stay incredible. We never wanted for anything. The food was just there every day, delicious and the table set so pretty and if we needed something, Elder made it appear. It was without a doubt the best pampering, and much needed. Totally recommend having Elda cook for you, both she and Elder our delightful to have around. We also saw a lot. Beach in Tulum, Town of Tulum, Ruins in Coba (had a wonderful tour there, and you can actually still climb on the ruins, Elder's suggestion), lunch at the ruins (not as good as Elda's cooking, but very good), Playa del Carman/shopping and beaches, Cozemel, Xel Ha (swim with the dolphins, snorkel and chocolate massage...) but by far the hidden secret was Akumal Lagoon (didn't have time for beach which is known for turtles, particularly May to October) and like a dream. Amazing fish with out waves, it's between carved out Limestone and there are beautiful paths with many bronze statues...like a dream.. Sunsets were beautiful. Even had a wonderful massage right on the patio of the house our last night that Elder arranged. Heavenly! Thank you for providing such a wonderful, peaceful place to stay and with Elder and Elda, our angels.
