Amazing home! Even better beach!

5 of 5
The house is very beautiful and well kept. Plenty of room for 11 of us. The private beach is amazing. We had a small family wedding on the beach and it was the perfect spot. Kids swam in the ocean all day, everyday. Fabulous sunsets and views of Cancun in the distance. Great customer service from the property manager, as well as the owner. Definitely recommend. Very close to Dolphin Discovery.

A perfect Christmas in Mexico

5 of 5
My family and I had a great time at Sisal Sur Mer! It was the first time we decided to break away from our usual Christmas traditions and instead head off on a family vacation. The change is destined to be repeated after our amazing experience in Sisal. The guest house was exactly what we needed for the four of us. It was spacious, clean, comfortable, and welcoming. My parents got to share the lovely master bedroom with morning views of the ocean! I took the room with two twin beds, which allowed for quiet and a few extra hours of sleep without hearing the going-ons of the rest of the home. The room where my brother stayed was less comfortable than the other two, as it doesn't have as much privacy and isn't as quiet, but he managed all the same :) The house is right on the beach, so after making a quick cup of coffee it was just a simple stumble to set up and catch some rays. The afternoons were wonderfully spent in a hammock reading or napping. The kitchen was well supplied with pots and pans and dishes, so we got right to cooking after we did a "quick" run to the Costco in Merida. When we were too tired to cook, or wanted seafood, we went to one of the best restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of eating at, La Palapa de Soco. Although late-eaters beware! The restaurant closes when the customers stop coming in so don't wait too late if it's a quiet day in town. We also got in some sightseeing, with a day-trip to Merida and one to Uxmal and the Puuc Route. My family has been to the Yucatan before so we weren't as focused on venturing out as we were on resting and relaxing. However, Sisal is a great beach location if you also want to get in some touristing. Marty, the owner of Sisal Sur Mer, was extremely helpful with everything we needed and my whole family enjoyed getting to know him over the course of our stay. The only complaint that I had was that there were workers around doing renovations and updates on the property (which is great for future renters!) and were there and a little noisy early in the morning sometimes and took away a little bit from the seclusion of the location. Otherwise we had a truly stellar visit in Sisal and it would not have been nearly as excellent if we'd stayed elsewhere. The whole family hopes to return in the not too distant future and look forward to more time in this very, very special corner of the world.

Wonderful vacation

4 of 5
We recently stayed at the Casa Playa de Turtugas from 11/1/12 to 11/8/12. We had a wonderful time, and enjoyed the house very much. It is a spacious, beautiful home - clean and well maintained. The house staff was amazing - Vicky, Alicia, and Mari met all of our needs and then some. They cooked delicious meals for us, and accommodated our gluten free diet without any problems. They anticipated our needs, greeting us in the mornings with coffee, and remembering who liked which type of fruit. They were helpful in creating the menu of meals, and getting us a grocery list. They had suggestions for us for sightseeing, and local tips, etc. We cannot say enough good things about them, if we ever return it will absolutely be because of these 3 women - they are worth their weight in gold!! A few things are worth mentioning. The house description is a bit misleading. This is NOT a beachfront estate. It is an OCEANfront estate. The backyard ends in what is basically a cliff. There is a fence, and a sheer drop straight down to the ocean. Ernesto, the property manager, tells us that Hurricane Sandy swept away the beach days before our arrival - however, we were told that the "beach" is apparently seasonal. In the summer months there is a small bit of beach but in the winter months there is not. This was a big disappointment to us, as we had 4 small children with us who were very much looking forward to a week of playing in the sand, and "beachfront" is exactly why we picked this particular property. Fortunately, there is a small operation about 5 minutes down the road called the Pirata Morgan - you can pay a small fee and spend the day enjoying their beautiful beach. We did that twice, and it was quite nice. About that road - also not mentioned in the description of the house. The "road" is in fact a very poorly maintained dirt road. From where the real road ends to the house is exactly a 12 minute VERY bumpy and SLOW trip by car. We found that the house was a full 45 minutes from the Cancun International Airport, and it took us about the same amount of time to get to downtown Cancun. This is misleading in the description, where they tell you it is only 25 minutes away from Cancun. Definitely not so!! The house had some minor issues - ants run rampant, hot water was erratic in the showers, the "hot" tub was really a "whirlpool" with no heated water, etc. None of them were dealbreakers, it is a nice house. Also be aware there are 2 large dogs. They were chained.
