Perfect family vacation - we'll be back!

5 of 5
I almost hesitate to write this as I want to keep this amazing secret to myself! I have spent years coming to Mexico and the Riviera Maya, and I didn't think there were any "secret" areas left. I was wrong. This was a perfect place for two couples and a toddler, and would be great for a group who was looking to be away from crowds. Parents worldwide will understand why this is awesome: just think, laying on the beach while you listen to the waves and the quiet monitor while your kid naps. It was amazing - so beachfront that the monitor reached from the bedroom to the pool and beach. And infinite entertainment for the little one when she was awake (sand toys, big pool, "baby" pool aka for washing off your feet, ocean, boogie boards, did I mention sand?). She's still talking about it, and it was ten days of perfection. Cristina was also great and very helpful to us, even when we needed an extra day b/c of being snowed in at home. However two recommendations for management and two notes: 1. Add a hammock to the porch :) we put one up, and it was amazing. 2. This didn't cause us any problems staying there, but it seems that there is some water leakage from the back bathroom on the second floor down to the first floor. If it were me, I would worry about water damage as the owner. Two thoughts to make sure you know what you're getting as a guest and how to make sure this is the right place for you. The noise between the two apartments (one on top one on bottom) could be a problem if you had rowdy people upstairs or something. We were lucky in that we had families sharing both times, and so the early to bed early to rise thing worked out well, and I don't think we bothered each other, but if I go next time, I might try to figure how to rent both parts for extra family fun!! Only other thing to note is that I would not recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to do some cooking for yourself or who does not rent a car - there really is nowhere to easily get good food without it (did I mention it's really a secret?). But car rentals in Cancun airport are easy and affordable and well worth it - just check Trip Advisor for excellent food options around the area. Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen are both excellent for good food and groceries. We are seasoned Latin American travelers who speak Spanish, but this would be simple for anyone to do with access to maps and trip advisor. This vacation was precisely what we wanted, and we hope to come back soon.

Beautiful tropical home

5 of 5
My boyfriend and I loved this beautiful, tropical home. It has a lot of nice amenities in a private and quiet location. I love how the house is surrounded and privatized by lush vegetation and beautiful flowers, making the whole lot your own jungle oasis. The backyard has a gorgeous pool, palm trees and canopies for shade, and a hanging bed for relaxing. A large sliding glass door opens the living room to the outside patio and makes for a great breeze and view. We never had a reason to shut the doors or windows! The beach is maybe a two minute walk and puts you on the nice quiet side, away from any crowds. We found a nice beach club called Unico that was just down a block with drinks, music, loungers, and volleyball nets. Town is only about 5-7 minutes away if you use the bikes at the house. The town itself might be small, but has a lot of great restaurants and a small shopping "flea market," which was filled with the traditional Mexican goods you'd expect. If we didn't feel like going out to eat, we had plenty of space for cooking at the house, with a full featured kitchen and even an outdoor barbecue. Every space feels bright, open, and airy. Each room has multiple windows to get a nice breeze, the master has an extremely high ceiling, the living room has beautiful views of the pool, the kitchen and entry is dotted with skylights, and even the bathroom has a door that opens to a "secret garden" so if you open the door, you can feel like you're showering outdoors. We are hoping to be back in the fall.

Fantastic little casa !

5 of 5
This little casa was perfect for our family, very well equipped, everything you need is there! Beach chairs , umbrella and even snorkel gear . Xcacel beach is fabulous, not crowded , has an amazing reef with tones of colourful fish and if you walk to the very left the break from the waves is way out which was awesome for our 4 years old ! The kids had no problem get in and out of the water . The Pueblo of Chemuil had all we needed to make meals at home ...fruit and veggies stand on Wednesday and Friday , convenient stores ( one with an ATMS) and 3 delicious and inexpensive restaurants . Also barbecue chicken stand every day of the week ! We rented a car is was well worth our money as there is plenty of cenotes nearby to discover , the ruins of Tulum is a must and the Akumal lagoon. Best family vacation so far , Thank you Carol for sharing your wonderful home in paradise!
