Excellent stay

5 of 5
The title for this vacation rental says minutes to the beach. OK, maybe 2 minutes if you're taking a leisurely stroll. Wake up early to catch the sunrise over the water or see the lights from Cozumel island at night. It's such a treat to be so close to the beach and not worry about parking or packing everything you need when you're so close to home! Also the beach is not crowded at all as this is a private gated community so no public parking, just walking. The house was clean and spacious. As mentioned the beds were a bit firm just like at other places I have stayed in the area but sleep-able. I think there is room for more than 5 people as there is an extra futon in 2nd bedroom and a pullout in the living room. There was plenty of room for my 2 young daughters, wife and I. I suppose you don't need a car as everything is close. Less than 10 minute walk to 5th Avenue and the ferry to Cozumel. The shopping/grocery centers have taxis ready to take you home. Xcaret is a must see (especially the show at night) and is close by (taxi or bus). Xel-Ha another must see but ~40 minutes away. A taxi driver from there said it would be 500 pesos to Playa del Carmen from Xel-Ha. We rented a car for the week so we could go all over, Chichen-Itza, Coba, Tulum and other places so the downside for us was we didn't get to stay too much at the house, leave early get back late. The kitchen did seem to have everything we would need if we had cooked. There's always next time. The girls loved to dip in the pool which is literally right out the patio door in the living room. Nice after a long day climbing up the pyramid at Coba! The people that received us, Carlos and Amir, were very pleasant. This would be a great place for a family reunion as there are several units on the same property. This unit is a stand alone single story house (I was wondering this when booking as there were several rentals from same owner and thought maybe there was a separate second floor as part of this unit) When you reserve, ask for the number on the house! The google map we were sent pointed to the right villas but wrong house!

Beautiful tropical home

5 of 5
My boyfriend and I loved this beautiful, tropical home. It has a lot of nice amenities in a private and quiet location. I love how the house is surrounded and privatized by lush vegetation and beautiful flowers, making the whole lot your own jungle oasis. The backyard has a gorgeous pool, palm trees and canopies for shade, and a hanging bed for relaxing. A large sliding glass door opens the living room to the outside patio and makes for a great breeze and view. We never had a reason to shut the doors or windows! The beach is maybe a two minute walk and puts you on the nice quiet side, away from any crowds. We found a nice beach club called Unico that was just down a block with drinks, music, loungers, and volleyball nets. Town is only about 5-7 minutes away if you use the bikes at the house. The town itself might be small, but has a lot of great restaurants and a small shopping "flea market," which was filled with the traditional Mexican goods you'd expect. If we didn't feel like going out to eat, we had plenty of space for cooking at the house, with a full featured kitchen and even an outdoor barbecue. Every space feels bright, open, and airy. Each room has multiple windows to get a nice breeze, the master has an extremely high ceiling, the living room has beautiful views of the pool, the kitchen and entry is dotted with skylights, and even the bathroom has a door that opens to a "secret garden" so if you open the door, you can feel like you're showering outdoors. We are hoping to be back in the fall.

Heaven on Earth. I spend all the time I can here

5 of 5
I stumbled upon these villas 3 years ago and have been going back as often as I can ever since. It is my favorite place to be on the planet. The villas are gorgeous, comfortable, spacious and clean. I have stayed in Fish and Boat villas. The kitchen is huge and well stocked, but there is no need to cook - you can order reasonably priced, delicious and huge meals served in your own dining room or patio. And there are always leftovers for the next day. Liza and Miguel are wonderful hosts and regularly go out of their way to make sure we have all we need. Liza even baked for us for my friend's birthday and showed up with her staff to sing birthday songs. They will shop for you and, if you need something at an odd hour, they can sometimes provide it from their own stocks. The wi-fi is good if you need to work, as I do. The beach is sublime and just feet from the patio and pool. The white sand feels like flour under your toes. The water is warm and often completely calm, but, sometimes, if you're lucky, you can do some great boogie-boarding. The pool is also lovely and clean. There are pool toys and floats and usually snorkel gear there as well. If you're a serious snorkeler, though, bring your own or rent it in Puerto Morelos. You'll need to hire a boat (usually $20 a person) to see the really nice stuff. The patio and pool area feel totally private, though I have always enjoyed getting to know the neighbors in other villas. Having stayed there many times now, I recommend making a shopping list for Miguel before you arrive, so you have some things waiting for you. I usually order a dinner and breakfast for the first night and morning. But, there is a big, new supermarket in Puerto Morelos, just a 10 minute's drive from the villa. Also, the villa is a short half-hour drive from the airport. In short, I cannot recommend this place more and will be going there whenever I can for years to come. The only drawback is I may not get to see any other part of the world because I have found my slice of heaven.
