Oasis

5 of 5
My stay at Layla was perfect! The clean, well furnished, air conditioned suite was like an oasis after my days exploring PM. It is walking distance from the market and beach and as a female travelling alone I felt very safe the entire time. The unique decor and creatively designed indoor/outdoor space made spending time in the studio as relaxing as laying on the beach! I took advantage of the hammock in the yard as well as my private in-room hammock. Details like the beach chairs and towels, fresh unlimited drinking water, kitchenette (including microwave), clothes drying rack, reading selection and complimentary refreshments made it a very comfortable stay! Robin was extremely welcoming and helpful, explaining community projects and telling me about the cenote tour offered (which I was disappointed I couldnt do because of timing). The classes and tours offered at Layla give any traveller the opportunity to try some new experiences with ease and a percentage of the proceeds go back into community development. Richard at the cafe also went above and beyond with recommendations of local things to do (and his food and the juice bar were phenomenal)! If I get the chance to return to Puerto Morelos, I will definitely be staying here again! Just a note: because of the open floor plan, sound from the surrounding area travels clearly, so ear plugs may be recommended (I don't travel without them anyways so it wasn't an issue). Thank you for a memorable stay and I hope to see you again!

The Good and Bad of it All

4 of 5
The Good: Great location to shopping, restaurants, night life. The condo was clean and well appointed. The views are amazing, and the beach is less than a stones throw away. Paula (owner) was super to work with; took our numerous phone calls and emails and helped us immensly. The staff was awesome.....zero complaints in that department; friendly and helpful. The Salvia is a bit worn, but unless you are a "princess/prince" it was fine. The Bad: Noise! 4 of our 6 nights the Night Club next to the Salvia had their speakers out on the beach.....it was a constant loud boom-boom-boom until 3-4am, Even with all windows closed and earplugs in, it was still audible......we napped during the day. The other 2 nights we heard the discos from the main ave. and could block much of that with the windows closed. If you are young, stay out late, and want to be close to Las Vegas like discos.....great place. Beyond noise, I would recommend.

Great place to stay! Spotless and well equipped, very nice beds and even a blender for DIY margaritas on the patio. Beautiful water views. The neighbourhood is fascinating and we always felt safe. Enjoyed our jaunts to the local bakery and fresh juice counter every day. Joyce will provide lots of info on how things work, like taxi and bus fares, also places to visit and dining options. One of our best holidays ever.
