We recently stayed for a week (6/28-7/5) at this house, 6 adults and 6 kids (1-13 years). Everyone loved the house, the views, and all the things to do. The house is just like it is pictured. We are discerning travelers and some things that caught our attention included LOTS of extra towels and linens, PLENTY of dishes, and SUPREMELY COMFORTABLE beds.
Manuel and Luisa, the caretakers, are the nicest people you will meet and go out of the way to make your stay enjoyable. Manuel took us and the kids on turtle walks to see the turtles laying eggs, snorkeling in the bays nearby, fishing in the ocean out front, and picking coconuts off the trees. We asked Luisa and Manuel to make all our meals for the week for a fixed rate and it was the best! They did all the grocery shopping, cooking, serving, and cleaning up! Manuel kept us plied with margaritas, pina coladas (virgin ones for the kids), and endless bowls of guacamole, salsas, and garlic shrimp! They cooked us a variety of foods including Huaranches, Empanadas, Enchiladas, Chicken Pibil, Chile Rellenos, Flan, Churros, and even a whole barbequed goat (Cabrito). All were excellent and highly recommended. By the third day, we stopped picking items from the menu and just left it all up to them. We were so happy we ended up paying them double of what we had agreed upon. They truly are the best part of the house.
Regarding activities for adults and kids, the house is on a nice quiet stretch, we only saw our neighbors twice, otherwise the beach was empty. The pool is completely shaded after 1 pm or so and the kids camped out in there all day long. While the beach is sandy, the ocean floor out front is very rocky but relatively flat and we were out riding the waves (with appropriate footwear and extra care) every day. The ocean in the front of the beach is very shallow and the water is crystal clear, so you can find a nice safe spot to enjoy the waves. There were lots of big fish that would come into the shallows and we even tried our hand at some spear fishing! The Cenote nearby is ok, too much current for the little kids. They preferred to snorkel in the Bay that is to the left of the house. In addition to the menagerie of tropical fish, we also saw sting rays, lobsters, barracudas, puffer fish and other exotic sea life. We also went to Xel-Ha (includes free zip-lines that land in water).
We have nothing negative to say about the house, and will return here if we come back to the area for another vacation!
