                    Recent Puerto Morelos Reviews

wonderful vacation in July in pm mexico

                    4 of 5
We just spent a week in Puerto Morelos in July at Randys Casita Blanca condo and loved it. Quiet town, nice friendly people and beautiful ocean view. The temperature in the 80’s each day, no rain, with a steady ,cool breeze off the ocean in front of Casita Blanca. The most surprising part of our stay was discovering the wonderful town of Puerto Morelos. After a few days, we began calling it “Mayberry”. It was like traveling back in time to a simpler way of life. We had a rental car but didn't really need it. You can walk anywhere you need to go. If you walk out the back of Casita Blanca and turn left on the street, it is a 5 minute walk down to where the best restaurants are located. Habanero is great for tacos. They were three for $5.00 and were so large they were a meal for two people. Another short walk puts you in the main town square of Puerto Morelos. When it began to cool in the afternoon, the kids come out to play soccer. My 11 year old son joined in and played with the local boys till it was too dark to see. There were more restaurants, street vendors, an ice cream shop, small grocery store, police station, church, real estate agency and convenient store located around the square for just about anything you could need on vacation. All of this overlooking ocean with the fisherman coming and going all day. Very nice!! We toured the area over by the highway and saw the crocodile zoo, (great), botanical garden (just ok), the colonial village of puerto morelos on the highway(interesting) and the El Cid resort down the beach to the south (too busy for us) Overall, it was a great vacation and we would return.

                    Beautiful new apartments

                    5 of 5
Despite the lack of reviews at the time we booked, the apartments looked wonderful and we reserved a room hoping for the best. We were delighted to find the rooms looked exactly like the pictures. Clean, spacious, with high ceilings and full of light. LOCATION: La Casa del Mar is about 2 blocks south of the square (a quick 3-5 min walk). The location is very convenient for restaurants and cafes. Beach access is not right across the street but you can access the beach from the square which again is a quick 3-5 min walk. However, we preferred the beach access in the north end because there are fewer people. The closer you are to the square, the more crowded it gets especially on the weekends when both locals and tourists make use of the public beaches. La Casa del Mar offers free use of their bikes. They have about 4-5 bikes for guests so if you want to go further north, you can bike to the north side of the beaches in about 10-12 minutes. Walking would take 20 minutes. We had a car rental so we just used the car to drive 2 mins to the beach accesses in the north. There is also 4 car parking at La Casa del Mar. Also we were comfortable walking to and from La Casa Del Mar at night. THE BUILDING: It was a nice quiet building and they asked guests to not slam the entrance door when closing. You are given two keys, one to the entrance door and one to your room. Inside there's a dipping pool which we didn't use but other guests used intermittently. There are bikes, beach umbrellas and beach chairs offered for guests' use which was very useful (esp the umbrellas! The sun was brutal!). There are rooms on the ground floor which are good for those who can't walk up and down stairs too well. The stairways don't have railings so those with small children may want to be careful there. ROOMS: Everything looked brand new and the light from the glass doors leading to the balcony made the place look very inviting. You can leave the glass doors open (there are screens to keep bugs out) and the windows looking into the pool area courtyard open as well and get a nice cross breeze. However, they also had an A/C that worked very well. The hammock in the middle of the room was nice for a little nap but you can also unhook one end so that it doesn't hang across the room. Beds were comfy, bathroom clean and new. The TV had English channels, and the wifi was super fast. All in all we loved our stay and would not hesitate to come back to La Casa del Mar.

The Title of this Condo is very accurate

                    5 of 5
This is indeed a truly wonderful condo. The Beds were extremely comfortable, and linens were of high quality. The kitchen was even better stocked than my own at home! There were many great DVD movies to see. The beach in front was quite private and quiet. We really wanted a quiet place, away from the centre of town, and we got this. They even had snorkel equipment and an abundance of towels to use. The owner had a great cappuccino machine. HOWEVER, the best was the deck outside. We lived here. Lovely lounges and chairs to use, a Bar BQ, and good size eating table. The owners have taken a lot of care to make this a great place to stay. In lieu of taking some of the tours, we found that it was cheaper - about $50 a day - to rent a car when we needed it to go to Xel-Ha and other places. The condo was about 45 minutes to an hour to walk to town, but a taxi home was only 50 pesos. We rented bikes from Diverspoint........great solution. The reef is close by, but you are not allowed to go there on your own, there was a little hut that offered snorkeling tours to the reef. Wow that was awesome. Would we go back? In a heart beat! We highly recommend this condo.
