Great condo and town, We were well taken care of!

5 of 5
The condo was very nice. Clean and definitely large enough for the four of us. We had everything we needed in the condo, and Carlos (the main contact at the condo) got us food to start us off. We spent a lot of time on the beach, which is beautiful and just a few steps away. Puerto Morelos is an awesome little town. Much smaller than Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. The experience is very different from the all-inclusive style vacation, but we definitely preferred it. We also had a medical emergency while we were down there, and my wife had to have nearly immediate surgery in Cancun. Carlos was there for us every step of the way, from finding us a qualified doctor who spoke English to driving us to appointments and the hospital, to translating and scheduling our appointments for us. He even went out of his way to make sure we were fairly billed. The doctors and health care down there was actually very nice, but our vacation would have been very different without Carlos guiding us through the ordeal, to say the least. All in all, we loved the place, the town, and how well we were taken care of. I would definitely return.

Beautiful tropical home

5 of 5
My boyfriend and I loved this beautiful, tropical home. It has a lot of nice amenities in a private and quiet location. I love how the house is surrounded and privatized by lush vegetation and beautiful flowers, making the whole lot your own jungle oasis. The backyard has a gorgeous pool, palm trees and canopies for shade, and a hanging bed for relaxing. A large sliding glass door opens the living room to the outside patio and makes for a great breeze and view. We never had a reason to shut the doors or windows! The beach is maybe a two minute walk and puts you on the nice quiet side, away from any crowds. We found a nice beach club called Unico that was just down a block with drinks, music, loungers, and volleyball nets. Town is only about 5-7 minutes away if you use the bikes at the house. The town itself might be small, but has a lot of great restaurants and a small shopping "flea market," which was filled with the traditional Mexican goods you'd expect. If we didn't feel like going out to eat, we had plenty of space for cooking at the house, with a full featured kitchen and even an outdoor barbecue. Every space feels bright, open, and airy. Each room has multiple windows to get a nice breeze, the master has an extremely high ceiling, the living room has beautiful views of the pool, the kitchen and entry is dotted with skylights, and even the bathroom has a door that opens to a "secret garden" so if you open the door, you can feel like you're showering outdoors. We are hoping to be back in the fall.

Oasis

5 of 5
My stay at Layla was perfect! The clean, well furnished, air conditioned suite was like an oasis after my days exploring PM. It is walking distance from the market and beach and as a female travelling alone I felt very safe the entire time. The unique decor and creatively designed indoor/outdoor space made spending time in the studio as relaxing as laying on the beach! I took advantage of the hammock in the yard as well as my private in-room hammock. Details like the beach chairs and towels, fresh unlimited drinking water, kitchenette (including microwave), clothes drying rack, reading selection and complimentary refreshments made it a very comfortable stay! Robin was extremely welcoming and helpful, explaining community projects and telling me about the cenote tour offered (which I was disappointed I couldnt do because of timing). The classes and tours offered at Layla give any traveller the opportunity to try some new experiences with ease and a percentage of the proceeds go back into community development. Richard at the cafe also went above and beyond with recommendations of local things to do (and his food and the juice bar were phenomenal)! If I get the chance to return to Puerto Morelos, I will definitely be staying here again! Just a note: because of the open floor plan, sound from the surrounding area travels clearly, so ear plugs may be recommended (I don't travel without them anyways so it wasn't an issue). Thank you for a memorable stay and I hope to see you again!
