wonderful vacation in July in pm mexico

                4 of 5
We just spent a week in Puerto Morelos in July at Randys Casita Blanca condo and loved it. Quiet town, nice friendly people and beautiful ocean view. The temperature in the 80’s each day, no rain, with a steady ,cool breeze off the ocean in front of Casita Blanca. The most surprising part of our stay was discovering the wonderful town of Puerto Morelos. After a few days, we began calling it “Mayberry”. It was like traveling back in time to a simpler way of life. We had a rental car but didn't really need it. You can walk anywhere you need to go. If you walk out the back of Casita Blanca and turn left on the street, it is a 5 minute walk down to where the best restaurants are located. Habanero is great for tacos. They were three for $5.00 and were so large they were a meal for two people. Another short walk puts you in the main town square of Puerto Morelos. When it began to cool in the afternoon, the kids come out to play soccer. My 11 year old son joined in and played with the local boys till it was too dark to see. There were more restaurants, street vendors, an ice cream shop, small grocery store, police station, church, real estate agency and convenient store located around the square for just about anything you could need on vacation. All of this overlooking ocean with the fisherman coming and going all day. Very nice!! We toured the area over by the highway and saw the crocodile zoo, (great), botanical garden (just ok), the colonial village of puerto morelos on the highway(interesting) and the El Cid resort down the beach to the south (too busy for us) Overall, it was a great vacation and we would return.

                Small town charm

                5 of 5
We received a sweet and warm welcome by the owners at Layla Guesthouse. The online description is accurate and we were delighted with the design, the location, the amenities and the owners. It was our intention to avoid a big luxury resort in the larger cities, feeling more comfortable in a small town. All that we needed was within walking distance. Beach just across the street. Quickly making new acquaintances throughout the neighborhood and town. No problem hailing a taxi whenever we needed a ride out of town. USATransfers is the company to use for transport to and from Cancun airport. Robin and Steve put so much careful and creative thought into the design of the apartments, making it relaxed and easy to live the beach life. Outdoor shower for rinsing off. Hammocks well-placed throughout the garden and apartments as a consistent reminder to slow down the pace of daily movement. The bathrooms are so pleasing that we would take extra showers because we enjoyed being in them (as well as because of the seasonal heat) The cafe offers beautifully prepared fresh food- Asian/Tropical/Mexican influences. We highly recommend Steve's skills, artistry and lively conversation in the salon upstairs- in view of the open ocean in air-conditioned comfort. We enjoyed a dive adventure everyday scheduled through Deep Life Divers. Then sauntering out to the center of town to enjoy a different restaurant every night. The educational focus is also appreciated as an honoring of the local history and culture. A completely satisfying experience that we recommend with great enthusiasm.

This place has everything you need.

                5 of 5
My family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners really have thought of everything. From beach chairs and toys to kitchen equipment to rainy day activities. It was all there. We took full advantage of the kitchen and cooked at least two meals each day. It was nice to have the condo cleaned daily as well. We had two days of rain but were able to keep entertained with the netflix, DVD's, puzzles, and books available to us. Cece the property manager is very nice and helpful as mentioned in other reviews. Another selling point for this condo is the location. Walking to town was so easy even for my 7 year old and slow moving mother in law. We did not rent a car the entire stay and never felt the need to do so. Also loved that the beach and pool are right at your fingertips. We have stayed in large all inclusive resourts before and walked much farther to get to the beach (without a view of it from our room) than we did in PlayaSol. Each day we would load up the beach chairs, cart, cooler, sand toys, and head to the beach for the day. There we would set up a spot and play all day. We brought our own snorkel equipment and snorkeled every day. We saw many varieties of fish right off the shore. Usually by evening time we were tired and hungry. We would then walk into town in search of some place good to eat. The property is clean and well maintained. The pictures listed on this site are accurate. Only negative I can think of is the balcony is very small and to see the sea over the large palm trees you must be standing up. Not a big deal but worth mentioning. There are plenty of beautiful sea viewing spots from the grounds of PlayaSol other than the balcony. I would definitely return to this place and recommend it to anyone interested in Puerto Morelos.
