Modern,Stylish House With Colonial Touches

5 of 5
We loved our 12 days stay in Villa Sarteneja. The house is spacious, beautifully furnished with modern and colonial furniture, with huge bedrooms and bathrooms. The backyard patio is to die for:we spent countless hours just reading and relaxing there, occasionally taking a dip in the sparkling and surprisingly cool pool,or swimming laps when we felt more like exercising. We also had all our meals there. There is always a pleasant breeze coming through the entire house ,and there are a lot of ceiling fans in the house and in the patio. There are speakers installed and zoned in the house and the patio ,and we listened to classical music in the evenings ,with the patio beautifully lit around us.Magic moments. The caretaker ,Agustin ,was very responsive to our questions ,and was ready with response email within a few minutes. The internet worked very well ,with strong coverage in the entire house and patio. The house is located 7 minutes walk from the Main Plaza, and about 10 minutes from supermarkets and the Central Market, which we visited almost daily for fresh fruit, and for colorful sightseeing.(We happen to like local markets).Buses to Progreso(the nearby beach)leave 5 minutes from the house ,and to Isamal about 15 minutes. The main bus station is 2 blocks away. We definitely would recommend this property to our friends and family, for both short and long stays.

Absolutely gorgeous

5 of 5
We stayed four nights in this beautiful home with its wonderful atrium like pool area and loved it! Everything is provided and the open concept kitchen, dining sitting room with its skylights and the light playing along the walls is stunning and inviting. Tastefully decorated and sparkling clean. The room high windows make this place airy and bright. The Remixto team (care takers of the property)made us feel like VIP, and provided outstanding service. They even helped us to locate and retrieve our lost luggage. The only thing we regretted was we did not stay long enough. There is a pizza take out around the corner, delicious, delivery and very friendly and very affordable.

Gorgeous Home... An Oasis!

5 of 5
We had the pleasure of staying in this home for 10 days, and it was an incredible experience. The home is absolutely beautiful – the photos represent the house very well, but honestly don’t do justice to the whole vibe of the place and how tranquil and lovely it is. The house was very well cared for, clean, and well stocked (we loved cooking in that beautiful kitchen!), and had nice quality linens and bedding. Tracy gave us great information to help us with our stay, and the property manager met us promptly to give us the keys and show us through the house when we arrived (even though it was nearly 10pm). They even helped us find local (English speaking) Chiropractors and Massage Therapists when my husband’s back went out. I can’t say enough good things about this place - it was so nice to be there lounging around we had to force ourselves to leave and go out sight-seeing! It was also great to be tucked in the neighborhood and experience what it’s like to live there – we set out each day to walk the block or two around the corner to the Chen Bech market for produce, or one of the tortillerias just beyond. (Also, very tasty salbutes and panuches from a vendor that opens up in the evenings outside the Chen Bech market.) It’s a short walk to the town square, just about a mile, and we found some great restaurants. Our favorites were Oliva Kitchen and Bar (Italian), a tiny place tucked on a quiet corner with amazing housemade pastas, and Apoala (located in the busier Parque Santa Lucia) had some of the best regional food; the steaks were spectacular and I loved the fried squash blossom appetizer! La Negrita was our favorite bar for afternoon stops; a happening spot with great music , a nice mix of locals and a few tourists here and there. Again, all about a mile walk from the house, and very safe. On the nights we were tired of being on our feet it was easy and inexpensive to grab a cab back to the house. Despite all the lounging at the house, we did manage to zip out to Progresso Beach for a day. It’s an easy bus ride, but we ended up just jumping in a cab which cost about $20 USD each way. It was a fun little beach town, and there is a corner joint with some of the best rotisserie chicken I’ve ever had about 3-4 blocks due south of the beach on the main drag heading back to Merida. This is one of the best I’ve ever taken; I rarely want to visit the same place twice – but we will make a point to come back here to this house every year. Enjoy!
