              BEAUTIFUL,SECLUDED PARADISE!!!

              5 of 5
We chose Casona Palms based on the reviews on both TripAdvisor and VRBO and I cannot express enough on how accurate they were. This home is amazing. My husband and I love to travel away from the touristic crowds and Love the off the beaten track. We visited Mahahual before the cruise ships began to go there and fell in love with it. We knew it had changed. Some good some bad. It's great to see locals prosper and new businesses pop up. Definitly more restraunts and bars than before. We got to experience buying a fresh caught snapper from a fisherman on the beach and have him grill it there for us and dig us our cervesas out from their cooler. We so wanted to return. So we found Casona Palms. Cannot say enough! Gorgeous, clean, the beach is amazing, and the water!! It was far enough away to be secluded and quiet , yet an easy 30 minute drive to town. The road had been improved and no longer is a 4wd needed. The home is perfectly equipped, plenty of bottled water, hot showers and the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. There was even WIFI which seems so strange to be so off the grid and be able to connect home. We had to lay the ground rules on that! Everyone enjoyed the hammock, the kayaks, snorkeling, as well as my morning runs were so peaceful up the quiet sandy road. As for things to do, it's endless!!! We struggled because there is so much to see and do in that region but we wanted to enjoy the house and beautiful beach. We drove to Punta Herrero and wished we had a few days to spend there. We also went to Bacalar , Chachoben and a day in Mahahual. The caretakers Mario and Angelina was very helpful and Mario would rake the beach and hang the hammocks as the sun came up. The house was well kept by Angelina with clean sheets and towels. Mario caught us a large grouper and grilled it for us for an amazing dinner! We were very happy to have been able to meet Michael as he was in Mahahual when we arrived. He's is very kind and helpful and had great tips for our visit. We cannot thank Michael and his wife enough for sharing their beautiful home. We hope to return each year. Only next time we will stay longer. One week is just not enough. Thank you again Michael and Corinne

              WHAT A GLORIOUS PLACE!

              5 of 5
We have just returned to snow and cold after a week in the paradise of Taj Majahual and the Costa Maya. We decided to pull out all the stops for our 50th wedding anniversary and took our children and grandchildren on the trip of a lifetime. Gabe’s Taj Majahual was the perfect spot! We had plenty of room for all three families—and in luxury accommodations. The beach, the silken sand, the deliciously warm water, and the sunrises! What more could one dream of? Well, to top it off, the most beautiful setting. The house, with its gorgeous tiles and mosaics, is breathtaking. With porches all around, we had delightful breezes to cool us. The grandchildren frolicked on the Caribbean shore and in the sea—and so did we all (for me, it was the first time I’d set foot in the sea for over 50 years!), and afterwards, they swam in the darling 13’ wide plunge pool, which was just large enough for the three of them. In fact, the two smallest ones gained enough confidence there to stick their heads into the water and start swimming instead of dog-paddling. They delighted in resting in the hammocks provided. The kitchen is very well-equipped (and very prettily done, again in talavera tiles), and we fixed all but one of our meals there. It was fun buying our food from the “grocery truck” that comes on Thursday and Sunday (the kids were about to run screaming from the kitchen when they found that our 2 half-chickens came with heads and feet!—good learning experience). We were very sad to leave. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful home, Gabe and Cindy.

              WONDERFUL BEACH ESCAPE

              5 of 5
My 12 person family stayed May/2009. What a perfect place for a beach get-away. First the villa is perfect for a big family gathering, lots of space with big bathrooms/ bedrooms and a well supplied kitchen. Plenty of places to be in or out of the sun and be near the water. The villa is spotlessly clean and a very thoughtful layout. The beds are perfectly comfortable with nice linens. Joe, the owner is very responsive to your needs and concerns. The beach is great with a modest reef 250 yards of shore. We snorkled their often both with the kayak and just taking a nice swim out. You can walk the beach north for miles. I don't think we saw 5 people any where on the beach the entire week. All the pictures on this web site are accurate and not over stated. My dealings with Joe and Maureen, the owners, Santiago and Esther, the caretakes, were easy and honest. I would stay again and have it on my list for a future vacation.
