Diving adventure in a secluded place

            5 of 5
We spend two weeks at Casita Dragonfly, our vacation was great. I didn’t write a review sooner because I was busy booking dragonfly again, I wasn’t even home for a week and we decided to go back for more. The place is wonderful is what we were looking for. We really enjoyed it. We made friends with the neighbors next door and we dove with them a few times. The house has everything you need to enjoy for your stay and yes is in between the mangrove and the ocean and 11 kms away from Mahahual in the outdoors expect whatever comes with a tropical environment, from toads to lizards, geckos and iguanas. Small bugs, big bugs, crabs, and birds. Here you won’t see any deer, moose or bears. So its different ………very pretty and relaxing!!! About the furry companions? My boys wanted to take brandy back with us, he hung out with us all the time, guero came at dinner time was like being at home, they came with us for a long beach walks. Very nice dogs. Us being divers I will target my review towards that side, first the beach! Is a nice open shallow beach with white sand, the portion at the house is clean of native plants, and collects sea grass from the waves at night. There are patchy areas of sand but most of the bottom is sea grass all the way to the reef which is located around 600/700 mts from the beach, the best way to get there is with the kayaks, the average depth is 10-15 feet all the way to the reef which pretty much comes out of the surface. There are many isolated heads of coral formations, very nice snorkeling experience but also very good to do some scuba at very shallow depth giving you plenty of time to observe the reef. Just make sure you bring the anchor with the kayaks and don loose them. We didn’t go to the side beyond the reef barrier so not sure about diving but snorkeling will be a challenge with the waves breaking over the reef. We connected with Gypsea Divers, and we had to drive every time to the diving shop , something that we enjoy going to town. Catherine went beyond expectations for us to enjoy our dives , excellent reefs and nobody around, so we were a group or four with nobody else to share the dives, we did ten plus dives and we went to many different locations. If you are a diver the recipe is Mahaual + Casita dragonfly + Gypsea Divers = awesome diving trip!!……so we will be back to Dragonfly for more underwater adventures in January. Thank you W for sharing your House and allowing us to enjoy that piece of paradise. J
