Lovely, remote retreat

5 of 5
We had a wonderful stay in Tampalam. The house was very comfortable for our young family and we all loved playing in the clear, shallow waters. The beach is one of the most beautiful we've seen - extremely soft sand, turquoise waters and gradual shore. Perfect for our two small children! We also enjoyed the complete privacy afforded by the remote location. During our entire stay, we saw exactly one other person on the beach. The house is a good thirty minute drive from the nearest neighbor and close to an hour from the nearest town (Mahahual). Being alone on such a beautiful beach was a real treat. As with most any beach these days, depending on the currents, you will see trash and debris washed ashore. While the house and its beachfront is meticulously cleaned every day, there is debris located along the shore a few hundred meters down the beach. It was an important eye-opener for our whole family. It did not detract from our visit - indeed it enriched our experience - and we very much hope to return soon. Finally, Abraham, the caretaker, was fantastic. He helped our son look for hermit crabs, hung our hammock and brought us fresh coconuts every day.

A wonderful vacation.

My wife and I stayed at the Casa Blanca Caribe for one month and laying in the warm crystal clear waters was a wonderful daily routine. The owners were extremely attentive to our needs and the communications before and during our stay couldn't have been better. The house is very comfortable and we were occasionally greeted by local fishermen who would sell us part of their daily catch (including Caribbean lobsters). The property surrounding the house is very clean and the trees are loaded with coconuts which we regularly opened. The sea is only steps away so we were in heaven for the month we stayed here. (our dog loved it too.) There is only one downside, they say they have internet service, and yes they do have the equipment but.... it seldom communicates with the Internet in any meaningful, useful way! Very frustrating

Had a great time!!

5 of 5
Stayed here a few years back and had a relaxing time. Really enjoyed the use of kayaks and the caretakers who lived a few minutes down the street. Also got a chance to check out Cenote Azul and Lago Bacalar which was pretty cool. A quick drive into town (and along the way) gives plenty of food and drink options as well as a pretty descent night life. So if you're sick of the resort scene like me then this is a great option! The only thing I might do differently is fly into Chetumal rather than Cancun.... it's a long drive although very duable.
