Great House in a Wonderful Neighborhood

5 of 5
We've been renting Casa La Roja for over a dozen years and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay on each occasion. The house is very functional & comfortable whether for a week or for a month or more. Each year the owner makes a few improvements. The house is always well maintained, clean and in tip top shape when we arrive. We rent the first floor which features a full kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a dining area, a living room and a quiet spacious back patio with a built in brick grill. . There’s a separate apartment on the second floor containing two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, living room and large balcony; and, the third floor has a single bedroom. The house has tasteful furniture throughout, a television, and air conditioning in the bedrooms as well as fans in every room (we rarely need to use the air-conditioning). Although we enjoy Cozumel’s many fine restaurants we also cook in or take out from time to time. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking or you can use the built in brick grill on the back patio. For divers there’s a rinse tank for gear on the back patio and a secure area for hanging dive equipment. Casa La Roja is in the charming Corpus Christi neighborhood. We always feel as if we are part of the neighborhood instead of being in a gated tourist community. The house is about one block from the magnificent Corpus Christi church and the square in front of the church where there are often events, music, etc. This is a safe neighborhood – as is all of Cozumel – and the house is very secure The house is about a 25 minute walk from downtown (or a 5 minute car or cab ride). If you rent a car there is plenty of parking available on the street. Casa La Roja is about a 10 minute walk from two large supermarkets and excellent restaurants. Teresa, who cares for the house and looks after the guests, is attentive & always helps out with whatever is required. The house has internet and a television which is nice to occasionally get a news fix on CNN, BBC, Fox etc. We think this is a great house which we will continue to rent in the upcoming years. We’ve recommended it to several friends who have all thanked us for the recommendation.

Loved it! Paradise close to it all.

5 of 5
When we opened the gate and walked through the door it was like our own little paradise. Coconut trees and tropical plants and did I mention the gorgeous pool and landscape! Breakfast every morning and drinks every night on the patio. Such a beautiful and relaxing spot. I was very impressed with the size of the rooms and the amenities. Each bedroom had it's own bathroom which was very convenient. All the rooms were clean and spacious and the house was well maintained. Fully functional kitchen for when we wanted to cook, which wasn't often because there were so many restaurants to explore. We walked to shopping, restaurants and nightlife and rented a car to explore the island. All in all we were thrilled with the property. A hidden treasure that we look forward to booking again next year!!

I'd go back and stay again

4 of 5
We stayed for 2 weeks during Christmas and New Years 2013/14 for 2 adults+7year old. I will not say that it was absolutely 100% perfect, but I believe it was as good as it could be for the money during the holiday season. Owners sure try to do everything they can to accommodate. We had one issue when electricity got turned off in the house on Christmas Eve at like 8pm because of very strong wind/storm messing some wires... We called in the manager and he came out at 9pm on Christmas Eve (that alone says a lot!), than he got some guys from electric company and it was back on a few hours after... granted it was not in 5minutes, BUT I was mentally prepared ready to spend a few more days without electricity given it's a holiday, it's Mexico and lots of tequila around ;). So I was impressed! In our unit A/C worked great, beds were OK, pillows a bit stiff, shower and toilets worked as designed. WiFi Internet worked fine. You need to have rubber shoes to get into the water right in front of the house, but it's probably one of the best snorkeling that you can find on the island. Best if you walk up to Americana hotel, about 400m(yards) north, get in the water from their pier. The current will bring you back to the house in about 20minutes you can see all kinds of fishes while you do nothing. If you came to the island for snorkeling don't go anywhere else, and don't spend any money on tours BEFORE you snorkel right there. Chances are you will not find a better spot that's as easy to reach. To the owner: you can do a little better job cleaning the place before arrival. That includes everything including kitchen cabinets and plates and utensils. The air is very warm and very humid, and because of that you are used to some white and green ?moldy? stuff growing around FAST, but it was new to me. It's not fatal, but it's gross. Have a better ventilation in all small/closed spaces and re-check before yo let a new vacationer in. If you had it locked for 3 weeks, there's a chance it doesn't look the same way as when you left it :) You keep your territory clean and it shows, but the moment you step out of the gate you could still pick small papers and pieces of trash. Maybe you can cooperate with the restaurant owner next door. It will make both of your places look better and more attractive and it will not be much more work to clean up couple hundred feet around the front your property every now and than That will make it stand out for the whole island!
