Fantastic home, wonderful owners!

5 of 5
We just returned from a month's stay at Mango's Beach House and we have only good things to say! From the first meeting with Luis and Claudia (and the great tasting dessert they brought us!) to the final goodbye to Misael, we had no complaints. That doesn't mean we didn't have little glitches, but they were all handled in a timely fashion and all went well. It was the perfect distance from town....we could walk the beach or the road and get our daily exercise.....and it was the perfect distance from town......we had peace and quiet! (except for a barking dog or two, but, oh well!) At one point, there were 8 of us and we had plenty of room. Loved the breezes we got from the gulf side! The house is very well appointed. Would definitely recommend to anyone and we hope to return! Thanks, Luis and Claudia! Misael too! Our 9 year old granddaughters loved being able to practice their Spanish with you!

Quiet, Beautiful, On the Beach!

5 of 5
This is a remote Villa right on the water! The pictures are realistic and you are literally 15 steps off the back deck into the Gulf of Mexico! You can walk for hours along the beach and never reach an 'end'. The house is fully equipped with all that you need (fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, gas stove top and oven, water dispenser, silverware (it's in the blue hutch in the dining room!), plates, glasses, pots/pans, and a BBQ! It has 3 bathrooms and showers, two bedrooms are upstairs - the master has a queen bed, and the 2nd room has two single beds. Each room is equipped with a ceiling fan and an air conditioner (although I didn't use the aircon because the open windows and ceiling fan were enough for me). The property itself is full of palm trees, white sand, and is very clean and very well maintained. The pool is clean and the water inviting!! After a dip in the ocean, you can take a rinse using the outdoor shower. Maria, the owner, is absolutely fantastic to deal with. She is fluent in English, responsive to your questions, and willing to go the extra mile to ensure you have the best experience in her home! Uaymitun is where the house is located. The first time driving there might feel like you'll never find it again, but it's very very easy to find and return to (no matter how many cervezas you've had!). The house is a 20 minute drive to Progreso, where you can go and get supplies and have some great meals (go to Barlovento!). North of the property, you can drive to Xcambo and visit Mayan ruins and along the way, you can visit a Flamingo habitat and the salt flats! YOU NEED A VEHICLE! That is a must. If you forgo the vehicle, you can take the Collectivo (local bus - it's a white van) into Chicxulub, then another Collectivo into Progreso. Just stand at the end of the driveway and wave down a white van...it will cost you 8 Pesos to Chicxulub and another 8 to Progreso. I spent two weeks here and on the fourth day, I had to check to ensure I still had a pulse... Thank you, Maria, for your attentiveness, friendliness, and for sharing your home! Cheers, Kim

Great Villa in Great Location

5 of 5
The villa was just like pictured on VRBO no surprises. The Wi-Fi was excellent. There is no central air but we didn't need it. The house was designed with air flow in mind and it was great. The Gonzalo and Olivia the caretakers were always on hand to help with whatever was needed. The owner Ana Patricia was amazing!! She went above and beyond for us, a little mishap with arrival times. She picked us up and took us shopping before going to the villa what a plus. she speaks excellent English and was so informative. The bottle of wine was such a nice added touch when we arrived. About Chicxulub. It is a small fishing village and when you read on trip advisor and else where that little English is spoken in the area they are not kidding. But we knew just enough to get by. The locals were so nice and always tried their best to help us. There was not a lot going on in the evenings. No bars or restaurant were open in the evenings and very few during the day. But it was a short ride to Progresso for those evening outings. If you are just wanting a very quiet, relaxing vacation this place is for you. We had a great time and would recommend to friends. Thanks Ana Patricia for sharing your home with us.
