A GREAT PLACE TO STAY!

5 of 5
This Condo at TAO-Grand Bahia Principe, Riviera Maya is the place to stay. I stayed at this lovely practically brand new TAO condo in March and had the best time. This place is gorgeous, comfortable and has everything you need! The condo is very roomy and tastefully decorated. The furnishings are very nice and also inviting. Both bedrooms and bathrooms have plenty of space for your things and are also stocked with many items you may need. It’s a very peaceful setting and the back patio is surrounded with lush vegetation and nice furniture to lounge on. The grounds at TAO and all of Grand Bahia Principe are beautiful. There’s even a natural Cenote alongside the magnificent 27 hole, Robert Trent Jones II designed, world class golf course. The resort consists of four hotels which can be accessed with the free tram system. The tram will pick you up at the TAO Wellness center and from there you can go to the resorts, the beaches, tennis courts, etc. all within the Bahia Principe Resorts. There are plenty of dining options, bars, shows and shops to explore during your stay. There are bicycles for rent on the property. The TAO Wellness center (2 minute walk from the condo) has daily Yoga classes, a lap pool, a regular pool, wi-fi, a TV/lounge area and a gift shop all surrounded by a lush jungle setting. There’s also a gym facility for your work outs. There are several pools within the resorts and a large “infinity edge” pool a short walk from the condo, which we had practically all to ourselves! The ideal location, between Playa Del Carmen and Tulum, in Akumal, makes it easy to visit both destinations. You’ll want to see Tulum for the ruins, the fabulous beaches and fine dining experiences there. Playa Del Carmen for the beaches, shopping, night life etc. In Akumal you can snorkel with the sea turtles, shop, dine and experience the wonderful people of Mexico. I highly recommend this condo and give it 5 stars!!

Best Snorkling Spot

4 of 5
As everyone else has said, this condo has an amazing view and is very comfortable. AC is not needed, and what's more it's really nice to be able to smell the fresh air off the sea. Everything in the kitchen works so if you, like me, don't want to eat out every meal you can happily make your own food. The condo complex is very nice with two swimming pools and there is a grill you can borrow to cook your own fish (maybe that you caught yourself!). This condo is three flights up - hence the amazing breeze - which was fine for us but would be hard for older folks who have trouble with stairs. Akumal is a pleasant sleepy little town with good restaurants. We had such a good time that we decided to extend our stay from three to eight nights. A lot of the other folks staying here were without a car and seemed to be perfectly happy but we were really glad we rented a car. We chose this condo in large part because of the closeness to Yal Ku but would come back because of the fabulous location on the bay. This is definitely the best spot in town for snorkeling because of the arrangement of the coral, the depth of the bay and the fact the condo built a nice ramp for easy access to the deeper area of the bay. Tip: I recommend going grocery shopping in Playa or Tulum if you can because Akumal is a small town and the stores there are more expensive and less well stocked.

Awesome Akumal vacation location

5 of 5
We stayed at this condo from 2/9 until 2/14. Our reservation was originally scheduled to start 2/8 but there was a mix-up in the reservations and other plans were needed. The condo owner did an excellent job making alternative reservations for us. This worked out fantastically, a well done to the condo owner. The photos do not do the condo justice, it is much nicer than pictured. We spent the mornings drinking our coffee on the porch, second living space. The beds are very comfortable. The unit is very well stocked with the supplies needed. The view is fantastic, very calming and relaxing. We ate half our meals in the condo and the other half in town. There is a local seafood restaurant in town. A simple menu but all the fare is excellently prepared. There are 2 local stores in Akumal, but there selection is limited so recommend you go to either Tulum or stop at the store half way up to Playa De Carmen. The eggs are fresh and taste great with some local sausage. A word of note, most of the stores stop selling beer at 2:00 PM on Sundays. Snorkeling at Akumal Bay was great and we got to see sea turtles munching on the sea cabbage. We also snorkeled at the lagoon, it is in walking distance and admission is good for all day. We went on a Monday and it was not crowded at all. The best time was spent lounging outside the condo, enjoying the sun and the sea. This condo and its amenities made this truly enjoyable.
