LOVELY COTTAGE IN PEACEFUL SETTING

5 of 5
This lovely cottage, located just outside the small, picturesque village of Tremolat, is an ideal base to explore this part of the rich and historic Dordogne region. We were a group of 6--mom, dad, 2 kids (14 and 5), and 2 grandparents--who stayed for a week at the end of June 2014. The house with its many bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and numerous common areas, comfortably accommodated our group with space to be together and apart. The pool, with its views over the adjacent walnut orchards, was a lovely place to swim and relax after a day of sightseeing. Our kids absolutely loved the pool and spent every afternoon in the water. There are too many things in the region to see and do to list them all. Suffice to say, if you stay here you will be as busy as you want to be and cannot possibly run out of things to do and see (we particularly enjoyed the prehistoric sites around Les Eyzies, Chateau Castelnaud and the market in Sarlat as well as a few markets in some of the smaller towns). Upon arrival at the cottage, we were greeted by the property manager, Simon, who helpfully provided a tour of the clean and well-kept property and grounds and showed us the location of key items. Simon was easily reached during our stay and happily accommodated our requests. Linens, including sheets, duvets, pillows and towels, were all very clean and to a high standard. The kitchen was well-stocked with pots, pans, plates and glasses for a group. It is very helpful to have a car to explore the area, although there is branch line train service to Tremolat which is within walking distance of the cottage. In addition to the train station, Tremolat has a number of amenities for such a small town--patisserie, market day, Relais & Chateaux restaurant, casual pizzeria and historic church--which complement the amenities of the cottage. At the time of our stay, only the upstairs (master) bedroom had air conditioning, but the thick stone walls of the house keep the lower level of the house very cool and the 2 downstairs bedrooms remained quite cool and comfortable for sleeping with just fans (despite experiencing temps around 85+ F/25+ C for several days/early evenings during our stay, which may be unusual). Overall, the property is well-set up and supplied and it was easy to connect and work with both the owner (Karen) and property manager (Simon) regarding our stay. We would love to return if our travels bring us to this part of the world again!

CHARMING COTTAGE

4 of 5
Having never been to the Lake Winnipesaukee area before, the cottage was the perfect location to walk to downtown Wolfeboro. We loved our cottage - quaint and cozy. The caretakers and owner were so friendly and accommodating. We would recommend staying at this location in an instant!

RIVER GROOVE IS A GREAT CHOICE IN SAUGATUCK!

4 of 5
The cabin was amazing! We were looking for something unique, modern and quiet and that's exactly what we got. You never know what you'll get when you book a cabin online, and we've stayed in some pretty disappointing places, but River Groove will not disappoint. It is exactly as it is in the pics. The furnishings are all high-end and no detail was overlooked in the design. We are originally from Michigan and had a couple friends stop by for visits during the week and all fell in love with it! The location was also perfect for us - walking distance to both the beach and downtown Saugatuck, which is hard to come by in Saugatuck. Rob was always quick to respond throughout the entire booking process. The only reason we didn't give it 5 stars was that we felt there could've been more paper products. There were only 4 of us in the cabin (2 adults, 2 children) and we were out of tp and paper towel within the first couple of days - the only tp was what was already on the dispensers and only one extra roll of paper towel so we had to buy more. Not a big deal, just a small detail to keep in mind. Also, the cabin wasn't as clean as I'd hoped for a cabin of this caliber. We are VERY picky so others may not agree with this. We happened to notice the living room hadn't been vacuumed underneath furniture (found lots of food crumbs under the chairs while looking for my daughters lost toy) and there was a lot of dust/cobwebs in some of the hard to reach yet very visible areas. Overall though, this was the best cabin we've ever stayed and would definitely stay again. Thanks Rob for sharing it with us!
