Staging of an Engagement Party

5 of 5
Thankfully, I had the opportunity to receive this amazing package at the 2014 March of Dimes Chef's Signature Auction at the newly renovated Edgewater Hotel in Madison WI. Once you receive your bidding item you begin to think how will I share this opportunity after supporting a touching cause. My thoughts were brief and simple....to host my nieces engagement party. My niece, Heather and her fiance Matt sent me their guest list and the e-vite was sent. We arrived Thursday eve to an opened warm home; let me restate that, indeed it is was a Mansion. It was simply breathtaking in the dark and we couldn't wait until the morning sunrise. We had to tour before even unpacking the car. We visited each room and amazed with everyone perfectly graced with gadgets and trinkets. We picked our rooms; that wasn't too hard since they were all welcoming. We enjoyed a glass of wine in front of one of the many fireplaces and called it a day. The experience of the sunrise with the brisk March air across Lake Michigan was incredible. There were pictures, tours and never ending comments as the guests arrived throughout the day. We all managed to prepare and enjoy our first grilled meal of the season and finished the evening in the Pub in the basement. Many tales were told and endless games played. If you run out of things to do without leaving the house it is your own misfortune. Remember to abide by all signs in the house! We even decided that it was like the game CLUE and captured the perfect picture. With a tour of the area we visited the Blind Horse winery along with the Black Pig Pub, both a must. Saturday evening, Chef Cathy Newton prepared amazing appetizers followed by plated dinners and deliciously topped off with creme brulee, Heather's favorite. Chef Cathy was delightful and accommodated our WI Badger Fans as we cheered on the Badgers as they entered into the Final Four! The question would be which room did we watch the game!! All good moments come to a close with fond memories. If you and yours have the opportunity, don't miss this experience. It too is a must! What goes on in the Mansion stays in the Mansion on Lake Michigan. Cheers to the Castino's for their involvement in the Sheboygan community and beyond.

Loved it in the Summer, maybe Autumn is next !

4 of 5
We were very impressed with the property and amenities available for our use at the property. One of our sons said it was better than the pictures. Accommodations were very comfortable, the property is spacious and the outside porches, deck, yard and dock made for a great (and quiet!) stay. We all were able to relax and enjoy the great weather. Plus, we were able to watch the Brewers games. It was great to have the two kayaks and the rowboat to use. A swimming raft in the middle of the pond would be great for swimming in the deeper water. Could use a small table and chairs in the enclosed porch and another screen in the windows and a stairway from the deck so you don't have to go through the basement or walk all around the house to get to the pond. The town of Wild Rose is only 2.5 miles away and we were able to get fishing bait and some food items we had forgotten; but overall the property was very enjoyable. If you like birds, (and we do!) there were three sand hill cranes that came every morning and night to our delight. Wild Rose has a groomed path around a lake that also attracts many varieties of birds and is an easy 1-1/2 mile walk.

Great Family Place

5 of 5
We have stayed here several times. We rent both "homes" . Allows us to spread out a little bit and allows mother-in-law to have her own "space". Beautiful view of the lake, shallow water off the peir is perfect for the kids to play in. The kids always fish off of the pier and have caught a few bluegills there. We bring a canoe and enjoy paddling around the lake. We grill out every night and eat on the deck - it has rained a few times and there was always room inside to eat too. Lots of room for the kids to play board games or just hang out. We have a campfire at night near the lake - perfect way to end the evening. The yard is open and great for volleyball or wiffleball games. We have enjoyed our stay every year.
