                          PERFECT GETAWAY WITH EVERY AMENITY!

                          5 of 5
Our first word upon entering Eagle Strait Cabin was simply “WOW!” This is a beautiful retreat in every way. Truly peaceful & quiet, with only a 10 min. drive in to town for every need. Clean, comfortable, nearly brand new, and just perfect! There is really nothing lacking, including nightly loon serenades. We had a full-service kitchen (minus a dishwasher) with appliances nicer than our own house, including perfect water and ice from the fridge. Nearly every cooking supply is present, down to vanilla extract, cooking spray, flour and baking tins for impromptu muffins. Our 4 kids split into pairs to share the 2 upstairs bedrooms and got along better than any hotel or relative’s house we’ve ever tried. The 2 big girls loved the bedroom with the bonus reading loft! Add a side loft (“playroom” our kids called it) upstairs, and they entertained themselves with the loads of board games available. For rainy days the board games held their own but it was nice to have the modern TV, sound system, and Blu-Ray/DVD player (with many family-friendly movies). On the nice days we spent hours at the dock catching a few bluegills and launching the sturdy aluminum canoe. We didn’t try the kayaks since our kids are still not quite the right age. Had a few campfires but some of us were chased off by the mosquitoes at times. So it was great to have a huge screened porch to be able to enjoy “outdoors” while remaining bug-free. Newer gas grill in there too which saw use a few times. Certainly no negatives but pay attention to the fact that there is only one bathroom (with the only mirror and a large shower but no tub) and plan ahead. I’m not sure how our parents did it with big families and only one bathroom, but we’re truly spoiled having 3 or 4 or more nowadays, especially with a teenager and a pre-teen! It was never a problem for us all week, but think through your bathing plans (and laundry plans, yes a washer and dryer!) if you have a large number of guests (6 of us in total). We had no real schedule and found ourselves sleeping in with “natural air conditioning” of Northwoods air, lounging around reading and talking, and just enjoying a perfect place and a restful week. We will most certainly try to get back here, possibly even for a winter visit just to try different outdoor activities. A Top 5 All-Time Vacation for our family, no question! Excellent communication from the very friendly and organized owners from start to finish, too!

I FINALLY FOUND THE PERFECT RENTAL PROPERTY. SLEEPING BEAR LODGE!

                          5 of 5
I pride myself on finding the finest rentals and Sleeping Bear Lodge is hands down the best of the best. The cabin is stocked with every amenity you could hope for from the ultra-comfy beds to heater fans in the bathrooms. There's even a bidet in the master bath. (no kids, that's not a fountain or an eyewash station!) The kitchen has everything you need. Plenty of books and games and entertainment options if you need a break from the natural Eden just outside your door. Being small business owners, we appreciated the Wi-Fi when we needed to keep in touch with the office. The property is a true nature lover's paradise, and very, very private. Our dog loved running on the sand beach and watching the deer that visited the far side of the private lake every day like clockwork. He also took adantage of the posh dog bed in the lower level while we watched DVDs on the large flat screen with surround sound. Gas grill or charcoal? How about both! (bring your own charcoal but propane is provided) We spent hours on the upper level deck enjoying the fresh air and the view of the lake as well as star gazing at night. There is also a fire pit by the beach and plenty of cut wood for burning. There is great hiking and paddling in the area. If you are a hunter, ATV rider or snow mobiler, this is the place for you. 6 miles of trails on the property and many more miles of trails in the immediate area. If you are a golfer, there are several nice courses within 45 minutes of the cabin. Plenty of restaurants and retail within 15 minutes in Iron Mountain, MI. Joe the caretaker is wonderful man who makes you feel like a friend from the get go. He and his family live just outside the property and can be there in a snap if you need them, yet they give you all of the privacy you desire. Many thanks to the owners for sharing such a special place and for being dog-friendly. We will certainly return.

PICTURES DO NOT DO THE CABIN JUSTICE.

                          5 of 5
We had a wonderful time! It was eagle heaven. We saw 8 eagles at one time at one point. The house has so many nice amenities that when checking a website don't seem like a big deal until you get there and find that all those little things really make for a wonderful stay (i.e. inner tubes, hammock, karoake machine, etc.)! The only drawback was that over time the low lying lake shore trees that are in the pictures have grown and really reduced the scope of view from the deck. We had our 87 year old grandmother up there with us, and it was difficult for her to move down to the end of the deck to be able to see the people in the lake swimming, kayaking, paddle boating, and inner tubing. Other than that, what a wonderful space!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
