A real discovery!

5 of 5
We live in Iowa and went to McGregor, Iowa, for a short trip last year in October . We sort of liked the town, as well as the neighboring SW WI area across the river. Very were soon looking for a cabin on the other side. For us traveling with pets is a must which usually constrains our choice set. Not this time! The booking was more or less accidental -- of course we liked the picture of the deck and the river as if right next to it. But the place was definitely beyond our imagination. The house is on ridge with woods all the way down to the river and the view is straight out of a dream! A beautiful landscape all the way to the other side of the river/lake, miles away, and the river islets are all yours to survey and be lord of as long as you are there. I love nature and travel and stay in state and national parks lodges almost twice every year, but this stay has been definitely the best -- as they say location, location, location! The house is very spacious, very well and tastefully kept -- I was quite impressed with the collection of DVDs and reading material which the owners are kind enough to let the boarders use. The rooms are very comfortable -- very well kept, but the problem is you just don't want to leave the living room or the deck! Finally, the owners and their local caretaker are very welcoming and caring. I ended up visiting again this July. Because of excessive rains this summer and storms the Internet was down for a couple of days. But they made sure that there was some alternative arrangement and everything was functioning by the time we reached there. The owner even called to check if everything was okay. To sum up, I was quite amused when I first read "absolutely the best in the midwest" on the property's VRBO website. TRUE. In last one year I have already been here twice, and will be back soon!
